    Question NOOB question- HomeBrew

    Hi all

I'm excited to try out the HomeBrew channel and have been reading up on it.

The one question I have is that I already have a 2 GB SD card in my Wii for game saves. Can I use that existing card to load the homebrew, hackmii, emulators etc? Or does it need to be blank with no game data on it?

If it does need to be blank, or doesn't have enough space, will that SD card have to remain in the Wii in order to use the Homebrew channel, emulators, Homebrew browser, etc? Or can i simply install all i need, and then keep my active Wii SD card in the Wii?

    Thanks

    Introduce Yourself

and then you will get the links with info you need.

    * you can back up the current info on the card to your computer. you will need to format your card so all data will be erased during the softmod process. but introduce yourself for some great links!

So I take the existing card, put in my computer and move all the game files to my desktop
    Then format the card
Do the HBC install and all the hacks
Then i can delete all on the SD card again and put the game saves back on it? or do i need to still keep all the other downloads on it still (HBC, hackmii, etc)?

there ARE things that will need to stay on your sd but when your done with the hacks you'll probably end up getting an HDD that you can put all your games on. and yes create a folder on your desktop for all your back ups. you will need one for you wii key and nand back up anyways

Now i just need to figure out what to do next. I assume the homebrew browser is the main one to try?

QUOTE from guide= Load HBC, press -HOME-, launch Bootmii
    Make a nand backup
Press Power, Power, Power, Reset, Reset (or use gc-controller)
Power = Right, Eject = Left, Reset = Select
Once the backup is complete, exit bootmii to HBC
Backup your Bootmii files to your PC
    sd:\bootmii
    sd:\nand.bin
    sd:\key.bin
    *DO NOT LOSE THESE FILES*
If you want to load bootmii again at a later date, copy the bootmii folder back to sd:\

Congratulations, you now have the Homebrew Channel and bootmii installed. You have made your nand backup and are ready to move on the chapter 2. If you purchased a game to run these exploits, you may now sell them if you wish.

    okay, so final question
    i hope

anything else other than homebrew browser i definitely need to install?

And with my SD card with my game saves, what all do i have to leave on there for homebrew to function properly? Emulator files? Any others? Does the homebrew browser go away if i don't have the files on the SD card any longer after it is installed?

    thanks!

Quote from guide= Now you have some useful apps ON your sd-card, you are ready to play. Have fun. Included apps- Homebrew Browser, WiiMC, CFG-USBLoader, and SaveGame Manager GX. There are many many many more for you to try. All apps install to the sd-card, or optionally you can install them to your fat32 usb drive. Apps should be installed like this- sd:\apps\app name\boot.dol ,otherwise they don't work.

** you must leave the apps on your sd or move them to USB. your gonna want a USB HDD anyhow. that way you can store all your emul, games, ect ect on there.
