When it comes to playing older games on your Wii I suggest an emulator. The selection is bigger, and it does not waste all of your Wii's memory. For Wiiware there is no other solution at the moment.

yeah those 20 blocks you lose for a emulator, of the most popular older games is a real drag, for something not needed to be loaded up via 4 programs -rolls eyes- i use VC its simpler and its got everything i would play more or less,, but like i said earilier still stands

Yeah but when your run an emulator it is only using memory on your SD card, but when you start getting all the VC games you want your Wii mem. fills up. I use a combiantion on both I guess.

...Virtual Console is what it is called when you buy a game from the Wii Shop channel, if your Wii is connected to the internet. He means you get the Homebrew channel then install the VC files as wads.

I installed some downloaded (not from shop channel) WADs without a problem. they show up as channels in my main menu, but every time I want to start them they come back to the main menu.
happened for all the VC games I have tried so far. Wii-ware works like a charm. anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I have a wii/gamecube gamepad plugged in for the VC games. I also don't get a "you need a classic controller" message whether the gamepad is plugged in or not. what am I missing?

do yo need a certain cios for VC to work?

Do you have IOS38, 53, 55 installed, also the wads may be out of region, there are apps for changing the region or making them region free. I play my NES and SNES from emulators. Look at Wiibrew for the latest emulators, you may be impressed with the game play and compatibiity. I have a 2 gig SD with all the NES and SNES roms and emulators on it. Look at thepurplecube for the roms, get all the NES roms in one dl link and all the SNES roms in another dl link. I like the emulators because they barely use up any blocks in the memory where as wads use up your Wii memory.

Next time you shoud make a new post, this one was a year old, sometimes old threads are out dated and useless.
