Unhappy Hitting a Homebrew Update Brick Wall

After working perfectly for nine months, my wii has suddenly developed issues. Primary is that I'm unable to update to the latest homebrew channel. When I try, I freeze at the scam alert screen. Having searched for solutions, I found that this is likely due to a corrupted IOS somewhere? So I try to run Hackmii to install it fresh, and the same thing happens. So I try to install the homebrew browser and am told it is not a valid wii application (have tried the last three versions). When I try to run a syscheck, it says error reading fat 32 and reboots to the hbc, so I don't know how to give an accurate list of what IOS' I even have installed.

PLEASE, please help me. I've been searching for answers for the last three days and am afraid that I'm doing more damage than good at this point.

Try installing IOS58 with Dop-Mii v13 and then run the Hackmii installer. Problem solved.

It depends. If you have cIOS249 use that if not use IOS36.

I have 249, but it wouldn't give it to me as an option, so I went ahead and used 36 and successfully installed 58 (thank you!). Unfortunately, hackmii is still freezing at the scam screen

Is it freezing at the scam alert screen or at the scam alert popup?

The screen (black with the text in a white-ringed box and a link to hackmii at the bottom.) Same thing if I try to use the auto update.

Have you tried uninstalling the old Homebrew using the 1.0.6 hackmii installer yet?

Emuhack is right it does take a while sometimes for the "press 1 to continue" to come up.

You might try the Softmod Any Wii guide in my signature. If your still having issues then refer to post #346 of the same guide. There is a user that is had the same issue as you. I guessing Mauifrogs suggestion worked as the user didn't come back asking for more advice.
