    Exclamation Miight full beta 1

Using Debian 'Etch' the Wii can now boot into a graphical environment with the ability to use the wiimote and stuff like that. cant say a lot else, as i havent had a play with it yet but i shall check it out in detail tommorow.

no wifi drivers in this release sadly but if the wii can boot into linux, that is massive.

    more information here: removed

    and installation instructions here: removed

once i am comfortable with it i will report back and offer support for anyone that needs it

However, if someone else uploads it, consider this project CANCELLED to the public. In this case, the full version will not be released, and only given to people I trust. I'm sorry it had to come to this, I didn't make it clear enough in the IRC channel that it was supposed to be a private beta. Sorry for any embarassment this may have caused, and I sincerly hope I do not have to cancel this, as I have had fun.
Please add this to the first post if you wish, so the chances of me having to cancel are less.
    Just for your info

not again with the leaks!!! Sorry Muzer, i get my information from QJ.NET - QuickJump Home - Nintendo Wii News - QJ.NET which is good beause they are quick, but this is the second time they have had to apologise about reporting releases without knowing whether the author has allowed it or not.

*which makes me angry because it mucks me around, and you too*

i dont know if i can talk about this but i suppose it will do no harm, as got the distro before recall.

anyway, the installation was pretty simple and the operating system is loaded from homebrew channel just like other apps. the progress is excellent, and currently runs with the openbox window manager. this window manager is very light with no panels at all (start buttons and taskbar and stuff), but instead a sub menu that is accessible by pressing the a button. obviously it is a beta, i didnt go any further than toying around with xterm, themes and loading up dillo (web browser that is very quick, and text based)

but considering how proprietary nintendo hardware is, i am really proud of team twiizers and all that helped on it. i think when the graphics drivers mature, then you will move more towards a mainstream desktop environment like gnome, but that could be way off, and perhaps call it WiiBuntu. at the moment it is definately not for the inexperienced or for people that want a production machine but that said it needs support to get it to that stage.
