Homebrew Launcher from USB Loader GX vs. Homebrew Channel
Here is the situation I need help with please:
I have PriiLoader Installed with a Forwarder to the USB Loader. So, when I turn Wii on it boots to USB Loader. Also, for any of my USB backup games run, when I press Home and want to Return to Wii Menu, Wii returns to my USB Loader. This is fine and cool as I want it to work this way...however....
I also want to run some Homebrew stuff occasionally.
The USB Loader has this menu at the bottom named Homebrew Launcher and it seems to mirror the Homebrew Channel, BUT...
Certain things that I try to run from this Homebrew Launcher (namely the Sega Genesis Emulator GenPlus and the Homebrew Browser Application) just take me to a black screen and nothing shows on the TV. If I run these my only way to get back is to turn off Wii from the consule and boot it back up. Which takes me back to USB Loader....
BUT, if I hold Power and Reset and boot into PriiLoader, I can select to "go to" the Homebrew Channel. Which is different from the Homebrew Launcher off of the USB Loader.
When I try to run GenPlus or Homebrew Browser from the Homebrew Channel they work fine, they just do not run from the Homebrew Launcher....as I would prefer them to.
In other words, I do not want to have to "get up off the couch" go to the Wii, and manually boot into PriiLoader and then select Homebrew Channel to run these.
Isn't there a way to get the Homebrew Launcher off of the USB Loader to run this apps correctly? By the way, many other homebrew apps run fine from the Homebrew Launcher from USB Loader Example, running the Super Nintendo emulation app from Homebrew Launcher works fine.
So, does anyone else have this issue? What can I do to resolve it?
Thanks everyone....(By the way, I tried search for homebrew launcher and I could not find anything on target with this topic) thanks.
I can't help your with USBLoadergx as I don't use it, but certain wiiflow 2.0 themes do have the option to boot any channel you have on your wii system menu. Thus if you use priiloader to boot to wiiflow, you can boot to the original HBC. Though I don't know if you want to switch loaders...
Thanks. You know how once you get everything (almost) working, you really do not want to change gears.
I like USB Loader just fine.
I was hoping someone might know why the Homebrew Launcher from the USB Loader would run some, but not all of the homebrew apps.
Again, if I manually launch PriiLoader (Power and Reset) I can select the REAL Homebrew Channel and all of my homebrew apps work.
It is a major inconvenience to be able to run some but not all homebrew (Especially GenPlus and Homebrew Browser) 2 of my homebrew apps that I use often.
Any other ideas?
What is Wiiflow? What can it do for me? Is there a link to download it?
For USBLoadergx you could try finding where the boo.dol is for its homebrew loader and replacing it with the HBC boot.dol.
Wiiflow is here. It is a backup launcher just like USBLoader. I think it is more customizable and easier to use but about 80% of the users on this site will argue with me.
I wish I did know how to have the USB Loader's Homebrew Launcher "Re-Linked" to load the Homebrew Channel instead of the Homebrew Launcher, but I am not sure where to find/or what to do. Any ideas gurus? Also, does WiiFlow allow me to link to Homebrew Channel? If not, then I am not going to spend time trying to mess around with WiiFlow. My USB Loader is fine for almost everything. Basically, I miss having full control of everything. Here's the deal, I like having my USB Loader launch at startup and bypass the System Menu, but I do not like having to manually launch PriiLoader to get to System Menu to edit Miis or to launch Homebrew. There should be a way to do it all without having to use PriiLoader (Power and Reset buttons) to choose what I want to start up with..... Thoughts? Also, back to my original question...is there something odd about the Homebrew Launcher compared to the Homebrew Channel? Should my Homebrew Launcher be acting like this? Has anyone else experienced Homebrew Launcher (from the USB Loader) to not run all Homebrew apps...and like in my case, run most, but not all? Thanks everyone.
I have the same problem with USB loader.
Tried to get a media player working and always get a black screen. Some home-brew works others always the black screen.
wiiflow 2.0 will boot to the regular HBC as long as its a channel on your wii system menu. It can boot to any channel that is on your wii system menu including the mii channel.
I looked into the USB Loader gx homebrew launcher, but it is an original code written into the source code and won't be as simple inserting a new boot.dol, sorry.
Been out of town for awhile...I am going to try to install Wii Flow and check it out.
However, I would hope that USB Loader could be fixed/updated in the long run.
Is there an update link to USB Loader or a step by step, etc. that may correct this issue?
It appears that I am not the only one who has an issue with the USB Loader running "Black Screens" from the Homebrew Launcher.
I hope that Wii Flow allows me to do it all.
My GOALS: To run any Wii Channel, Homebrew Channel, USB Backup Game, and "Return to the USB Loader" instead of the Wii Menu when pressing Home on Wii Remote from a game (ALL while NOT having to get up off the couch and hold Power and Reset to get into PriiLoader). Simple Goal, but worth the effort to get it done.
What does everyone else do to accomplish all of this?
Does Wii Flow allow for all of this?
Can USB Loader GX be updated to allow this stuff too?
You could set priiloader to automatically load itself at start up, then load the HBC, or USB Loader that way... And you wouldn't have to change loaders Me personally though I use Wiiflow, and if wiiflow doesn't work for something, I use Uloader, and if all else fails, USB Loader GX...
Thanks. I am using PriiLoader, and it boots to USB Loader now...also "returns to USB Loader" when selection Wii Menu. This is fine....the problem is that the HomeBrew Channels can be launched with USB Loader menu, but some work and some do not...
My concern here is that the Homebrew Launcher from USB Loader should be fixed/updated....any ideas here?
Second concern, is that if I install Wii Flow, people seem to be saying that I can boot to WiiFlow from PriiLoader like I am doing now with USB Loader, but Wii Flow also allows me to boot to Real Channels too...like getting to Mii Channel, or to Homebrew Channel...is this correct?
Does Wii Flow allow me to "return to Wii Flow menu" when in a game and press Home, and then go to Wii Menu? Does it take me back to Wii Flow?
