Does anybody know what media players (besides geexbox) plays .mkv files?
I torrent lots of hd movies and most of them are .mkv for some reason so I use mplayer ce because its easy to make it fill the entire screen because my dads paranoid about screen burn in on his nice plasma. Anyways, I have had to convert all my hd movies for like an hour to get mp4 to play in mplayer ce, geexbox will attempt to play my movies but it ends up making a clicking sound with the speaker and it lagged soo much im not sure if it was broken and had a black screen or it was playing soo slow that it never got to a frame without just black.

ANYWAYS... is there any other way to play mkv files without having to spend hours converting?

(sorry if i sound confusing, over the years my question asking ability has become more and more unorganized and I tend to type really long sentences)

ps i just installed wiimc and it looks really epic! though it still couldn't play mkv
Starting a new thread, in this case, would probably have been the better option. This is clearly a poll to gather information about the popularity of media players for the wii. Anything else is really off-topic and will not be seen by most users frequenting the forums.

If you want me to move your inquiry to a better location, I will be happy to do so.

@Stephen304: I've heard of someone using WiiMC to stream his HD movies over SMB, but I have never tried it, and I don't remember what file extension he was using, but it is worth a shot.
I got nothing on smb... wats it stand for?

    I chose WIIMC
I have used both of the players as well , and I have to say the WiiMC Seems to be better in looks and easy interface.
I still use the MPlayer CE Every once and a while. Oh It also has a easy interface, Just isn't to much to look at.

    Kudos
