cool this might just make my mind up on wich media player to run
I voted for and use Mplayer CE, because of compatibility, I've found that more of my media files play on Mplayer CE, WiiMC don't play some of them. If I was voting on looks, then WiiMC would win. I think that both have bugs that need fixing.
True True on your last post Stomp , for my part , i use WiiMC , and yes that GUI look great . So far i've got trouble with newer encoded .MKV and 2 french movie. My vote go to WiiMC , but Mplayer CE is also one good choice. you got WiiMC 1.0.4?
WiiMC for me. I have used them all, geeXboX being my least favorite. MplayerCE is great but I use WiiMC for the looks mostly. No trouble playing files on WiiMC yet.
WiiMC ........but i use MPlayerCE(cant get .srt to work with wiimc)
WiiMC all the way..... SMB Sharing works great and USB Loading....
WiiMC FTW
:)
Hey i was about to start a new thread but i saw this one so i guess ill ask here:
Does anybody know what media players (besides geexbox) plays .mkv files?
I torrent lots of hd movies and most of them are .mkv for some reason so I use mplayer ce because its easy to make it fill the entire screen because my dads paranoid about screen burn in on his nice plasma. Anyways, I have had to convert all my hd movies for like an hour to get mp4 to play in mplayer ce, geexbox will attempt to play my movies but it ends up making a clicking sound with the speaker and it lagged soo much im not sure if it was broken and had a black screen or it was playing soo slow that it never got to a frame without just black.
ANYWAYS... is there any other way to play mkv files without having to spend hours converting?
(sorry if i sound confusing, over the years my question asking ability has become more and more unorganized and I tend to type really long sentences)
ps i just installed wiimc and it looks really epic! though it still couldn't play mkv :(
WiiMC for mii!!!!!! GeeXbox was too boring: just a blue screen. MPlayer CE lagged my audio when playing movies. So WiiMC it was. Though it does still crash when I try to play a slideshow while playing music. I think this is just because my images are huge file sizes.
@Stephen304: I've heard of someone using WiiMC to stream his HD movies over SMB, but I have never tried it, and I don't remember what file extension he was using, but it is worth a shot.
