After updating to the latest version via the Wii I get a code dump when loading a sci from my hd. Everything used to work, now it doesn't.

Do I have to update the channel?

Sounds like you're the victim of the Homebrew network init bug.
Try this, it may work, it may not.
Edit the Meta.XML file and remove the line <no ios reload/>
Then see if everything works again.

You shouldn't have to update the channel. The first thing I would try is to update the boot.dol manually, perhaps you have a corrupted install of WiiMC. Then try what the post above mine says, I have updated and have no issues with WiiMC. Sometime I get a code dump because I use SMB to load movies, usually my computers usb hdd is sleeping when I initially load WiiMC which causes the code dump.

Is there any reason to why a video might lag other than the file size being too big? Each time I try to run a movie, it always has a split second or full second buffer lag each second of the video and its quite annoying. Just wondering if there is a way to fix it. Oh, and the file type if .avi and I think the size is about 500mb.
