You cannot hurt your softmods by updating WiiMC.
Channel installer runs like WiiMC does, place the channel installer folder in the apps folder of your Wii SD card and run it from the homebrew channel.
sorry for the late reply, but thought I would add one since nobody else did.

Iv got 2 softmodded Wiis, moded at the same time by Mauifrogs guide. One of them Iv got hooked to internet, downloaded the 1.2.0 update by homebrew browser. Then i copied the channel forwarder to apps and installed flawlessly by homebrew channel. On the other Wii I manualy downloaded the 1.2.0 update and over wrote the files in the old folder. Then I as above copied the channel forwarder and loaded it with homebrew channel and it started IOS 58 and then black screen error. It tried reloading and nothing, had to pull the power.Any ideas? The wiis should be identical exapt than one have been online for 2 months where the other hasent.

I want to make self contained 1.2.0 wad channel (not forwarder). If I base it off 1.0.8 wad and just replace the dol file, it goes to black screen. Anyone has the idea how to do it? Maybe the 1.0.8 wad channel creator? Thanks.
Great work btw!

Good luck with that working correctly, even if you do manage to make a working channel. WiiMC still needs to read and write to files on a storage device.

Ok so I'm not really new at softmods or hard mods. but doing wiiMC is giving me a hard time. WiiMC seem to play just time. but when i try to install the channel forwarder it gives me an error. saying... " Unable to obtain NAND access! Installer cannot continue. Is anyone else getting that error? and if anyone has the answer can you please post how to fix it. Thanks in advance and hope the questions helps others with the same issue
adding to my reply on the top... i just noticed the same. wiimc is at v.1.2.0 but the forwarder is only at v1.0.8.... Does anyone else think that might be the issue?

There have only been 8 versions of the forwarder installer released, that is why the version number is 1.8
