    ive tried both IOSes and i feel like 202 works way better then 58. IOS58 is to choppy. The WiiMC that uses 202 is still available in Homebrew browser

    Also my Wii can pay official DVD's and burned DVD's but only DVD-R Memorex or PENGO

    Qustion: how do i play the DVD without subtitles ? I went to movie settings in the menu and put no subtitles but it keeps on adding it

    Will the Wii Lens Cleaning Kit fix the wear out of the drive ?

    and you also said "use good quality media, for less wear on the drive." why is that ? I would think good quality dvd's would do more damage since the wii would have a tougher time displaying it

    A cleaning kit wont fix the wear, i wouldnt use the wii for playing dvd's all the time as it will wear out, use wiimc via share or usb if you want to watch movies on it.

    my issue is... my computer's IP address isn't the same, it goes from 192.168.1.100, 101, 102, 103. i reckon i need to create a static IP address, or configure WiiMC network every single time. does anyone know how to create a static IP? or is there a way around this with WiiMC?

    What OS are you using? If you google "how to set static ip" it will save everybody some time trying to type the whole process out.

    OK i got WiiMC SMB share to work but it took awhile and it wasn't as easy as 123 with a vista computer i had to do a lot of research P.S why the hell are we telling people they can play DVD on the drive if it will only end up destroying it / wear it out faster PEOPLE STOP IT ! use SMB or an SD or USB you dont even need to format it. I played a few DVD's yesterday and i hope !!! i didn't do any real damage to my Drive because unlike some people i actually use it to play official wii games ! If i see and error message about a Disc error so help me i will take it out on the closes living thing next to me ! ....anyways

    Here's a Guide i made to get SMB working from a vista computer to WiiMC -MPlayer-ce and WiiSX on your wii who knows maybe this also works on XP or 7

    1) Make a new user account on your computer name it and give it a password

    2)
    Make a folder in the Desktop name it Mymovies (no space ) and put a small video in the folder as a test

    3) Right click on the folder and click on "Share..." click on the arrow next to "Add" then pick the new user account you made and then click on "add" the Permission level should be on "Reader" then click the "Share" in the bottom and then on "Done"

    4) Right click on the same folder and click on "Properties" the on the "Sharing" tab click on "Advanced Sharing" check the "Share this folder" box then click on the "permission" the "Group or User names should be "Everyone" if not click on "add" then on "Advanced" the on "Find Now" scroll down and double click on "Everyone" then on "OK" then "Apply" and Permissions for Everyone blow should have the "Allow" box checked for "Read" if not then check it then click on "OK " then on "Apply" and "ok " on all the windows still open

    5) Go to the Wii and load up WiiMC go to "Settings" which is the Gears next to the Logo and pick "Network" Pick ADD SMB share leave Display Name blank put in your ROUTER IP or if you dont have a router then your computer IP in the "Share IP" ( open up Run and type in "command" and then type in "ipconfig" in the new window that pop-up. 1st try your IP Address.... and if that dont work try Default Gateway... )

    6) In 'Share Name" Type in you your folders name that you made in your computer if you used caps on the name then you have to use caps here also and on the User name and password of the new User account you made

    7) then pick "Go back" then pick "Videos" on the top you should see a new option with the same name as your folder. When you pick it, it will try to connect then fail if this happens go back to settings - Network and make sure you have everything right. IF you did it right it will give you a drop down menu of the things you have in the folder on your computer

    8)Enjoy

    UPDATE

    If you want SMB to work on MPlayer-ce do steps 1-4 in part one of the post if you already have not done so and then after step 4 Go to your apps folder in your computer and open up Mplayer_ce go to a file called "Smd"and open it up with wordpad or notepad. At the top here's what you should see

    #Samba share1 (smb1:/)
    ip1=
    share1=
    user1=
    pass1=

    Fill in your info next to each " = " sign put your IP address in "ip1" name of folder you made in your computer in "share1" your user-name of the account that you made in your computer in "user1" and password in "pass1" just like in steps 5-6

    Example what it should look like when your done just with your info not mine:

    #Samba share1 (smb1:/)
    ip1=192.168.4.207
    share1=Mymovies
    user1=BOOX
    pass1=angle13

    Then click on "File" then "save" and your done
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Update:Using SMB on WiiSX Beta2
    Do steps 1-4 in part one of the post if you already have not done so

    1) 1st you need a "
    settings.cfg" file if you dont already have one so go to Homebrew and load WiiSX and go to Settings then at the bottom you should see "Save Settings.cfg" with SD & USB next to it. Its asking you where do you want to make the save so pick whichever apples to you.

    2) Go into your USB or SD and in the root of your SD or USB you should have a "Wiisx" folder. Go into it and you should see the "Settings.ctg" file you just made. Open it in Wordpad or Notepad

    3) In the bottom of the file you should see:
    smbusername = ""
    smbpassword = ""
    smbsharename = ""
    smbipaddr = ""

    Input you Info between the "" so in "smbusername" put your username of the user-account you made in your computer, In "smbpassword " put the password of the user-account. In "smbsharename" put the Folders name that you made in the Desktop and finally in "smbipaddr" put your IP address ( if you dont know how to get you IP address read Step 5 in the 1st part of this post)

    Example what it should look like when your done just with your info not mine:

    smbusername = "BOOX"
    smbpassword = "angle13"
    smbsharename = "Mymovies"
    smbipaddr = "192.168.4.207"

    Then click on "File" then "save" and your done !

    If it worked it should give you a Menu Instead of it saying configuration settings not set when you go to "Load iso" then "Load from Samba"

    Hey guys, I've been trying for 3 days to figure this out on my own, and I am having no luck.

    I have the black wii, with v4.3u. I have had it softmodded for a while now. I recently bought a 500GB WD Elements HDD, and I partitioned it into two. One is formatted in WBFS format, and the other is in NFTS format. I have updated Homebrew Channel to version 1.0.8, and I have updated WiiMC to v1.0.9 after both had prompted me to do so. It looks like im running IOS 236?-----
    For testing purposes, I added one ISO image, and one AVI video to my HDD. When I load WiiMC, the HDD appears. I then navigate to the ISO file, and play it. It begins at the movies Title Menu. From there, I cannot play the movie. There are options for if it were in a dvd player, I would choose Play Movie, Scene Selection, Set Up, or Special Features. When I try to choose one (the options are on the bottom of the screen) the WiiMC menu shows up to pause, FF, RW, volume control, etc. Theres no way for me to get passed the title menu....am I missing something here? How do I play the movie. Also, while on the menu, there is no sound ------

    On to the AVI video. It plays fine. Because theres no menu - it just starts playing. The problem here is, no sound -----

    Why don't I have sound, and also, how do I play from a title menu?

    If I wait long enough at the title menu, it will begin to play auto ------ but it will reset back to WiiMC menu about 10 seconds into it. IOS 58 is included in the 4.3u update, and when looking at the credits it shows im running IOS 58, v1.0.9.

    Im going crazyyyyyyy here!!!!! Please help.

    edit ---- when I install the WiiMC channel from HBC, it says im running IOS 236, but WiiMC itself says IOS 58....what??? Does that sound right?

    edit #2 ---- I setup SMB and i have sound this way...why wouldn't I have sound via USB HDD? any thoughts??
