Yes I installed IOS 58 and had no problems. Wiimc works fine except for the usb drive problems. Homebrew Channel also is on IOS 58 and it works great. The new Wiimc Channel needs ISO 58 and it is working ok. However I have been reading that there is definitly a bug in 1.0.8 version but as yet I could find no fix!

I did install IOS 58. My usb drive was not seen by 1.0.7 also. By the way it no longer freezes when hitting the home button. I changed the settings to go to the system menu upon closing.

is playing DVD's on the Wii safe ?

The Wii DVD drive was made to play DVD's, sure it's going to wear out, that's what DVD drives do when you use them, just make sure that when using DVD recordable media to use good quality media, for less wear on the drive.

WiiBrew - DVDX
WiiBrew has removed a lot of stuff pertaining to DVDX because it is out dated.
Updated the first post to reflect the release of WiiMC v1.0.9

OK, i updated my WiiMC and its not asking for ios202 anymore so i put in a DVD and the Wii is playing it but i never installed ios202 or DVDX but the movie is choppy and i dont think its in sync with the audio , is this normal or is it doing this because i never installed IOS 202 ?

Are you playing a retail DVD or a recorded movie? The new WiiMC uses IOS58 to operate, IOS202 is not used anymore. I'll give a few DVD movies a try to see what happens. I watch all my movies thru WiFi from my computer, no more discs or USB for me.

the 1st DVD i tried was a real copy of Life not burned but I also just tried a burned DVD-R and at 1st WiiMC gave me a error but i pressed on the retry button and the DVD-R worked up to the menu of the movie but when i choose an episode it doesn't play ( The DVD-R im trying is Dexter's laboratory season 7 if it helps )
"I watch all my movies thru WiFi from my computer, no more discs or USB for me."
Please tell me how you do this ! is there a guide or video ?
My friend still has DVDX installed in his Wii, is it safe to keep it installed in the system or should he go back and uninstall it with hackmii ?

wii setup screen
Display Name ____ Movies
Share IP ________ 192.168.1.1

everything is case sensitive.
i did not turn any passwords off, i just use my logon name and password and that works fine.
I also did not have the shared folder anywhere special it's on an external hdd eg //g/Movies
It seems to like the main folder shared not just the whole hdd. It will find the subfolders.
Hope this helps.
