I never even knew, until you asked the question. That part I posted about search, search, search,------- is what I did, and where I found it.

Just in case WiiMC website ever goes down, here is a quote from Tantric
The channel installer is just a forwarder - that means that WiiMC still runs off of SD or USB. The channel looks on SD/USB for apps/wiimc/boot.dol and launches that.

A self-contained channel (with the DOL inside) would be pointless because WiiMC still requires either SD or USB to work.

So what I'm saying is the updating process is the same regardless of if you have the channel installed.

I've done loads of searching to look at how to set up the SMB between Vista and WiiMC. I've followed the steps that I could find and searched and searched but it keeps telling me that it can not connect. Could anyone point me in the direction of a really thorough tutorial / guide?

There was (maybe still is) an issue with a windows update the actually broke SMB sharing for some. Uninstall Windows Update KB980232.

Mods, sorry to link out of this forum but I cound't find on this one.

I didn't have to turn off my firewall, I set all the folders to be shared. Also, I have multiple computers connected to my router, IP addresses are assigned in the order the computers are turned on, so I have to turn on my computer first to get the correct IP address or else I have to go into the WiiMC settings and change the IP address there, so it's much easier to turn on the computers in a certain order. I have Windows Vista premium and it's all updated without losing SMB shares.

Anyone notice out of sync issues when playing certain files that work fine on PC or from a DVD player? I noticed this a lot after updating to the latest version...went back to the previous release and noticed it less but it is still there.
    Damn I suck!!!!

A short buffer time is normal. If it keeps buffering over and over, install the latest cIOS202.
