How old is your Wii, if it was bought new anytime this year then it may not be able to read a backup disc. Look here and enter your Wii serial number, if your Wii has D3-2 drive then you can only use original retail Wii and Gamecube discs in your Wii.

its an old wii, because with another player i can read de "divx" video files, but this player just says mounting DVD, it hangs, after, and i have to restart the wii.

Can you tell me if this player has he ability to play subtitles "srt" with avi?

    Thanks

I have not tried to play sub titles with MPlayer CE. As for divx files, this player I have used for a long time, and would play more different files than WiiMC. But I think that WiiMC is catching up dealing with which file formats it can read.

I made a mistake the other day and inserted a DVD +R data disc with divx files on it, and WiiMC or MplayerCE would not read it. Once I remade my disc with a DVD -R data disc then WiiMC and MPlayerCE would read it. Also, perhaps the quality of the divx video is too high for the Wii to display.

So I'm on a dilema here. I wish to make mplayer works as a channel but continous tests show me that my old Mplayer version: rev 27458 loads my DVDs fine yet I can't get it to work on a channel (like a forwarder for ex)

and the new MPlayers like this one in the post and the others .75 and .76 versions hangs on the mounting DVD screen like the problem from that guy above me..

    what should I do????

Well, it's been a while for me, but I have IOS202 v5.1 and IOS58 v6176 installed and DVD works fine for me. I also have one of the new forwarders installed. If you do not have one of those installed then I recommend to install one of them, the forwarder will do wonders. Another thing, are you using a DVD that you know works with Mplayer, I was testing the DVD support once and didn't notice that I was using a DVD +R, it was a while before I noticed that my DVD was the problem.

    I do have IOS202 v5.1 and IOS58 v6176 installed..

the forwarders posted here doesn't works with my old MPlayer version and the new ones can't play any DVD, I've tryed like 5 so I know it's not the DVD problem, because they all work on the old MPlayer but don't work on the others.. always the same hanging/freezing after Mounting DVD, please wait message.

I don't think I tried the newest version of Mplayer CE yet, I will give it a try tomorrow, I have tested the r619 to work with DVD. Have you tried to load Mplayer from the Homebrew Channel, just to bypass the channel to see if it's the app or the forwarder causing the problem. Also, double check that you do not have IOS58 v6175 installed.

The biggest fix (to me) in the latest release is that they fixed the ability to resume DVD's after they have been paused for over 2 minutes. For a long time, after pausing or stopping it, the DVD drive idles (which is a good thing), but when you try to play after that, the drive wouldn't mount again. You had to do a hard shutdown.
