ok thats my conf file. i'm pretty sure that is the correct address for my comp, as i opened the cmd prompt and entered ipconfig its my IPv4 address. but it also give me my default gateway ip address wich is one number different, do i use that one? i have no usernames or passwords to use my comp.

when i go to mplayer and to the smb option and choose smb 1, either i get an error reconnecting to smb1 or everything on the screen goes away but the background.

do i need to take the top examples out of the conf file? how do i use smb from the comp? do i have to set it up on my computer too to use it with the wii? i thought it was standard. ugg

i also made a folder on the root of c:drive called movies, thats what i want to access. i believe i have the file shared, but i dunno whats going on maybe i didnt set the share options right? :banging head against wall:

I had the same problem. I tried to change a lot, and could not understand why it would'nt work, i search down the net. It turned out to be firewall, i use avg, and had to change to home network, which allowed my wii to connect to my pc.

    To help anyone...

    Had Exception (DSI) error on
MPlayerCE V2 dol forwarder.wad when using Mplayer CE 0.76

Player worked fine in HBC, just dumped when using quit after loading with the forwarder.

Dowloaded Mplayer 0.77 today and it only has a boot.dol
Renamed my boot.dol for 0.76 to mplayer76boot.dolold (just in case)
Copied the 0.77 boot .dol to the mplayer 76 directory

Everything is now fine, tested USB HDD and Samba starting with the forwarder and it goes back to system menu on Quit.

    No other issues so far.
Thanks for the link to 0.77
(one thing, the load routine still shows up as 0.76 but thats just a screen change)

I never deleted the hash files in my config.

timis - Looking back on your smb.conf from a few posts ago the only things that could be wrong is the ip, which should be the one your PC is connecting to your router as.

The movies share must be the exact name that the folder share name is shared as, just because the folder is called 'movies' (i.e. c:\movies) does not mean it's shared as such. If you open your Network through Network and Sharing centre, open your PC and then you'll see the true share names of your shared folders.

In Vista I believe you have to share the folder with 'everyone' and it must have at least Read access. Saying that I have been unable to get my Daughters Vista laptops to share anything at all with the network.

Smb sharing on Mplayer CE is a very basic sharing system and doesn't give many clues to the user, it either works or it doesn't. If you can see the shared folder on another computer, such as a laptop then you are half way there. Once you get it working though it's a joy to use.

I don't bother with anything besides the Windows firewall and my router's firewall. I have no port forwarding going on for my network shares as that is taken care of by Windows firewall and File and Print sharing permissions.

ok when i go to network sharing center the folder is shared, the name of the folder is "movies" and it says the network path is "\\FAMILY-PC\movies". so does the config file have to say "\\FAMILY-PC\movies" or just the name of the folder "movies"

and i can ftpii stuff to my sd card so i know that my comp and wii can talk to each other, but this is pissing me off. aarrgg

It'll just be 'movies', without the quotes.

Must be a sharing setup issue with your OS then as your config sounds about right. Your PC doesn't require a password or anything does it? Had to switch mine off to allow the smb to come through.

For me it still crashes the wii when I try to start it in home briew built into GX USBloader.

Preloader auto starts USBloader - and do everything there. Don't want to even see the orginal wii menu system.

Works fine if I boot into the wii normal. Oh well hope the next version works ....

    is there a channel .Wad

Works a treat for me, Many thanks.

It even sorted out my booting issue when trying to load mplayer from my FAT partitioned USB HD (bye bye SD card!)

Not sure if there is one yet but a channel .wad would be very much appreciated. Using a simple forwarder at the moment.

Hey guys how do i update from 0.76? It's only 1 .dol file right?

1)I tried running from HBC, after checking, the player is still 0.76
    2) I overwrite the old 0.76 .dol in mplayer_ce with the new one. It still shows 0.76 when checked :s
