I don't know if the PC is using the FTP port number but if it is then you might want to check if your firewall is blocking that port, I believe its usually Port 21.

I haven't gotten that far because it won't actually load FTPii or any other homebrew application, I tried about 10 different applications. The applications do appear in the Homebrew Channel menu but when I want to load one it freezes at 0% and I have to reboot my Wii. I tried re-installing the HBC (beta 8) using both the Twilight Princess method and the bootable disc, but it makes no difference.

Try formatting your SD card and starting over.

That totally worked! I feel like such a noob. It wasn't in the tutorial though. Maybe it should be there. Thanks homebrewlover for the great tip. And Jiiprah and jbloggs too.

Everytime you want to install a new app in the homebrew channel do you have to delete everything in the SD card?

No you don't, you just copy the files to the right directory and the next time homebrew channel is launched it will show.

Yah i figured it out, thanks for the reply though
How do you get the Opera Channel to work though? I downloaded the .wad file and put it into the WAD folder ... and when it tries to install using WAD manager 1.1 it gives an error while trying to install
EDIT: NVM, i got it installed, for some reason when i first copied it onto my SD card it didnt copy properly.
