    Us Homebrew just stop working

Hi I am trying to back up a Wii game but when I go on my Wii to the Homebrew channel it says " This channel cannot be launched on this Wii console". It was working fine the other day. Any help will be greatly appreciated

So I found out my son upgraded to 4.2 . The Homebrew channel does not work but I still can play all of my games. Is there anything I can do to get it back? I had paid someone to do this because I have no Idea of what I am doing.
    please help

Hmmn I'm unfamiliar with 4.2 firmware as I've tried to avoid it at all costs (which is a lot simpler since I don't have an internet connection on my Wii)... Messie has a wonderful guide that should be able to help you out. If not, contact me again and I'll see what I can do for you : ) Good luck

Thanks I have read the Messie Guide and I am going to give it a shot. What I don't understand is how can I still play my copied games if my Wii was updated? When it was updated shouldn't the copied games have stop working?
    Thanks for the tip................

The 4.2 update does indeed kill homebrew but there have been many who have updated and used messies guide to get it going again. 4.2 still is NOT recomended though.

Yep, exactly what junkmailturds just said : ) If/when Nintendo release firmware 4.3, keep a closer watch on your son for the safety of your homebrew : D

Thanks for the help.....Damn you guys are good. I followed the Messie Guide and the Homebrew Channel worked. I have 3 questions (1) a couple of my backup games are in black and white? (2) On Messie"s Guide I did steps Part A, A1-A2-A3 & A4. Do I keep following the guide ? (3) Whats the best way to burn new games?( I have a chip in my Wii).............Thanks

    1) That's new? My guess would be that your TV isn't new enough to run 60Hz games properly and thus displays in B&W. But I'm going to assume that you're TV isn't all that old? Still, I'd say it has something to do with the game being forced to run as NTSC? :S But honestly, that's just a guess

    2) Did all those steps work perfectly for you? Hope they did. Messie helped me out when I first joined here, wonderfully helpful. Hmmn seeing as your backup copies are working then the B section of Messie's guide will be interesting, but perhaps this will fix the Black & White problem you're experiencing and, if it's going well so far, by all means. Getting IOS249 to work instead of IOS250 and getting cIOS back onto the Wii will help you out greatly. Just make sure to follow it closely.

    3) For burning games, there's many things you can do. WiiScrubber is good for eliminating excess data from the ISO's, but there shouldn't be too much trouble with just burning the ISO unscrubbed straight onto the disc. Some games, such as New Super Mario Bros. Wii though tend to be annoying and like to be patched before use, just google around for them, you should find some.

But the bare necessities, which is all I use, are ImgBurn, a wonderful program. Verbatim DVD-R's are the best discs to be using to burn games on, and just burn at the default setting. If it doesn't work, re-burn the game at 8x speed and, if that doesn't work, 4x. You shouldn't experience too much trouble. Especially since you have a chip in your Wii and I run back up DVD games through a soft modded Wii.

So, to summarise, follow Messie's guide all the way. Since you have a chip, you can stop at D (as in do parts A, B and C but you don't have to do D if you don't want to). That'll help alleviate most, if not all, of the burdens experienced on System Menu 4.2. Good luck with it all, once again, and keep us posted on your progress.

Black and white games, as well as rolling screen games can come from out of region games. Try forcing the video settings in your loader options to your tv's region. That should do the trick. Just try different settings with the video patches.

Thanks much for your detailed response. I decided not to go further on Messie"s Guide. I tried to burn a few games using your advice with Image Burn and burning the ISO straight up. I have burned two games successfully. Not sure if I should just keep everything as is ? Since everything seems to be working. I also took Junkmailturds advice on Black & White issue and it worked also. I have 4 boys 9yrs and younger so damaged Wii games happen often. So this is great. Seeing how I struggled for a week hopefully my son will understand that when dad says " NO UPDATES", he should listen....lol THANKS MUCH
