n64 games, wiiware, "classic games"

Hello, I want to ask a few questions about wiiware and virtual console on a softmodded wii.

Is it as simple as downloading .wad files from my favorite site and installing them as channels? Or am i missing something?

Is it better to use the VC n64 games, or use an emulator? I'll assume VC but I'm not sure. I also heard that unlike wii games, nintendo can tell when you use VC or wiiware, any truth to that or just some bs?

thanks!

The emulators are more reliable for me. Example - snes wads load but don't show until I hit the home button. And then I can see the screen it was at but it doesn't refresh and is kind of greyed like it does not havr focus.

I have yet to have any troubles with the eumulators. They just work.

Also, you are not limited by the amount of wads out there.

I do believe the N64 emulator lags a little. Where as the .wad files don't.

That's what I assumed, the wad version of OOT is playing flawlessly for me
