So what do you do if the ios the bootmii is running from gets deleted during the process?

Very good question, but as Bootmii only rewrites over the blocks that are faulty, and doesn't restore the full NAND the chances are that IOS36( that bootmii is installed on) will be perfectly fine and the chances of the brick effecting this IOS are extreamly small, however if it did happen then would it not be possible to boot into the HBC via preloader and reinstall IOS36-64-v1042, this will of course delete the bootmii that you currently have installed, BUT you can now go straight to Hackmii installer and reinstall the Bootmii to IOS., then run your NAND restore, and as you have the original IOS from Ninty installed this IOS will deffo not show up as one that needs replaced in order to restore your NAND.

Hope this makes sense, as having bootmii installed as IOS, this has always been the way i though i could do it?

does m8, how bout cioscorp tho? ios 36 is replaced. Anyway, seems good, and one may be able to pull this off, in case anything doesn't work the way it should. Also, if ios36 is new, (dunno what versions there are) bootmii will attempt to change it with the on you had while doing the nand backup...

Rather useless in case of a full brick tho...

Yes you are quite right, the only way i can see getting round this, is to keep a NAND backup with the original IOS36, thenwhen and if you have to replace the IOS36(that bootmiis is on), with the original, hopefully as the 2 vesions are the same the NAND restore would skip this block, but this is all hypothetical, as i haven't had that problem yet LOL, hopefully i never have either.

i deffo wish i could install to BOOT2, just for peace of mind more than anything.

nah, if you don't do any stupid things, preloader may be the good choice for you..

isn't there a way to run an app from the SD directly? or better yet, be able to run the bootmii from an other ios (249 eg) and give it order, not to replace it??

well. he suggests having an original ios36 from nintendo, so when bootmii sees that, it won't restore it, which is what we want, b/c bootmii only restores everything it will see changed.
Yet, don't put your money on it.. even a new ios36 or even one of the same version could be giving a different hash ticket than your original one(which is probably what bootmii checks in order to decide what it should change and what not)

i don't know for sure tho... maybe bootmii guys thought of it and forbade (forbid in past, right?) bootmii to change ios36 during ios/bootmii restore...

    could be saying bs tho...
