Question SoftMod and PAL/NTSC game play

I am still waiting to buy a modchip for my new Wii. Yesterday I installed the HomeBrew channel and after getting error "-2011" I re-read the instructions and installed it without issues.

But now I get an error when I try to go the SystemMenu. But that error is displayed for 5 to 10 seconds and I get the main screen as if I just powered up the Wii. If there is a small fix, please let me know. Thanks.

For the main question: Since I have softmoded my Wii, will it be possible to play out of region disks? I am currently in US, so NTSC is the default on my Wii, will I be able to run PAL game disks? Will it be possible for both store bought games and backup disks?
    Please advise. Thanks

You don't actually say what the error is, so it's a little tricky to determine what the problem is.

And for the other questions the answers are Yes, Yes and Yes.

Use a backup loader such as perhaps Neogamma.

    Question

    Tealc,

    Thanks for replying.

Here is the error I get when I select SystemMenu at boot time:

    Code:
Error: Found more values than offsets at line 36
This error stays for about 10 seconds before giving me the main Wii screen.

    Please advise. Thanks

That's a new one on me.

You are not alone though. Google was only able to find one other person who has mentioned this, didn't search exhaustively though

After weeks of trying to get HBC on my friends LU64 I finally got it working thanks to Dogeggs wonderful tut.

Can anyone help me with my error?
Couldn't pick up a solution from the 2 posts that user posted. http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tml#post115673

    Question

I guess, once I have the mod-chip, if mine is easy and not epoxy coated (LU624*), I could remove HBC and let the mod-chip to take over.

I did notice one other strange thing, with this SoftMod, I was unable to use "Disc Channel" for my store bought games (avatar and game party). I had to use the "backup disc" channel to play those discs.

I do not mind it, but I thought I would mention it, just in case it is a serious flaw. When I say unable, I mean, all I get is a black/blank screen, after I press START.

    Thanks for your advise.

Yes, it would be greatly appricated if someone could address the NTSC Wii's playing PAL games. I've burned a few and some have been black and white, choppy, and Wii reading error. What is the best way to play these games? I know there's tons of threads but I can't get an idea of what to do. Please help.

    Thanks.

Deacon.. can be very easy to fix that problem. First off are you using a modchip or softmod? If its modchip, Ill stop there cuz I dont know much of anything when it comes to modchips. If its softmod, you can easily fix the black/white screen MAYBE. I say maybe because forcing ntsc on some games just causes the green screen freeze. If you are using the old backup launcher gamma, press 1 right before the game actually starts to load. Youll enter the launchers settings. I dont recall what category this setting is in but you want to "force ntsc". If your using the newer neogamma loader, go to region settings and change region "something" from disc to wii. That way no matter what region game you load, the wii will automatically make it ntsc. This should fix the black/white screen but if you get the green screen freeze, toss the disc in the trash because you wont get that fixed.
