i have a western digital mybook (320Gb I think, the black case with the 2 blue lights on the front) and we play for hours, and it never has an issue.

You have to completely turn off the Wii for the drive to turn off tho (holding power on the wii for 5 sec), using the remote to turn it off doesn't cut it.

I have the Mybook Essentials 1 Terabyte and I'd love to know of anyone currently using this drive. I did see it on the will work list.

I run the seagate 250gb FreeAgent and it works great. It takes up both USB slots though. Can pick it up from Walmart for under $70.

Also, dont go buying a 1tb hard drive imo. The people that go out of their way to buy something that big are just wasting money. I have about 50 games on mine and i'm using about 120gb. Ya there are way more than 50 games out, but there aren't even really 20 games worth a damn tbh. The rest is just fluff you download just incase some day some time someone you know wants to play them. Even 500gb is a complete waste. Wii could be out for the next 15 years and wouldn't come out with enough games worthy of 500gb. And I say that as a Wii fanboi.

I'm sure some random person on here will be like "omgz ossot I use 400gb" that's great. I'm sure you love playing, We Cheer and other great games like Action Girls Racing.

ossot, I share your same viewpoint but...

It was a no-brainer at Newegg to buy the 750 GB drive (in my case) versus the 500 or 320's. The cost per GB was pretty obvious. I too wanted just a 320 for this stuff but come on...$80! I paid the $90 shown and for 2.3x the size difference for only $10 more...once again....NO BRAINER!

A LINK to prove my point.

I can't say it enough though. This drive is BAD ASS! Turns on and off with the console, high gloss black finish, matches entertainment center...I'm a happy camper!

Ossot, the WD Passport 500 GB drive is $119 at Walmart... The WD My Book 1 TB is $119... Let's do the math. I have the drive partitioned. One side is Windows partitioned where I store all my iso files. The other is the Wii partition for the loader.

Hard drives are like closets... you can never have too much storage space. For the money, I think that I love my 1 TB My Book. Hard drives with separate power adapters draw less from your Wii.

I'm using a Western Digital My Book Essential Ed 500GB USB Ext HDD with my 3.4U soft mod Wii with USB Loader GX 507build. Working fine so far.
