First off, you dont want to install both methods. If you wii was bought after november 08, you want to install it as IOS. If your wii was bought prior to november 08, you want to install as book2. I need to install as boot2 since my wii had 3.1U when I bought it. Anyways, make sure you have a seperate sd card. Download the ELF file and change it to boot.elf. Create a apps folder, and put the elf file in there. Put the apps folder on your sd card. When you get into HBC, click on that boot.elf file. You then want to click on prepare sd card. All your wii files will then be put on that sd card. After that, you either want to install as boot2 or IOS. I dont know how yours will be since you upgraded to 4.0. But with mine I need to install as boot2. After that is all done, you still might run into problems. The main problem with bootmii is that its still a beta version and some sd cards dont work with it. In order to get to that menu you have pictured, you have to have that sd card inserted, then turn the wii on. This is the reason why you want the bootmii on a seperate sd card because you cant unininstal the program, so as long as you have that sd card out of the wii, it wont go into that menu. That help?

Are you sure you have the bootmii folder with armboot.bin, ppcboot.elf, bootmii.ini actually on your SD card? If you don't or if it's an incompatible SD card it will just load the system menu.

You don't need to have the bootmii card in your Wii at all unless you need to use it. Keep the bootmii folder and your NAND safe on your PC or somewhere and just drop them on your working SD card when you need them, this has the added bonus that bootmii won't load every time. Feel free to use any card for homebrew, it isn't as fussy.

Question related to OP, I installed bootmii following this guide, http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-custom-s...-menu-4-a.html . Now out of curiosity I put the contents of my bootmii installation back on my sd from step 5 in that thread. I was able to get to that menu pictured above when I ran the bootmii. My question is , 1, My wiimote would not function in the menu, normal? 2nd following the tutorial linked above, did I back up my nand, and 3rd, how come the bootmii doesn't run when I first start my wii, instead I have to run it from HBC?

If any of you all know the answer to any of those questions, PLEASE let me know. Thanks guys/gals.

The issue with your wiimote not working is because at present it doesn't work in that menu. From the Bootmii FAQ which you can find here BootMii

How do I control the BootMii menu without a WiiMote?
Use a GC pad in port 1 to navigate the menu. If you don't have one, you can use the Power button to cycle through options in the menu, and Reset to select. You just need to briefly press each button. Note: a bug in BootMii/IOS currently prevents this from working, sorry.
I installed Bootmii and use the above method to to use the menu, works a treat.

Just had a quick look at the guide, I didn't see anything about Nand Backup, so I would guess not. Just go to the menu in Bootmii and go from there. One thing that caught me out, I could use the SD card to install Bootmii and run it, but it didn't work to backup the Nand, had to get another one. If you have an issue check here BootMii/SD Card Compatibility List - WiiBrew

As for your version of Bootmii not loading when you start the wii, could be one of two things:
Although I suspect it is reason2:

    1. You do not have the SD card that you used when installing Bootmii in the slot, so it doesn't load.
    2. You could only install Bootmii/IOS and not Bootmii/Boot2

    Hope that helps a bit.

Ok seen somewhere else that bootmii menu has to be toggled using the power button and rest to select, but mine does not toggle.

I think if you are not Bootmii Boot2 install you need the gc controller from the Bootmii faq

Worth checking out all the other info in the FAQ as well.
