Modchip, Homebrew and downgrade to 3.2

Ok, please forgive me since I am relatively new to this. I have a few questions that relate to the WII and dowgrading and homebrew.

So to start off, I have two WII's that I have just installed modchips in and I both are currently at 3.4u.

I have done the twilight pricess beta 1.2 hack on one, since I am at 3.4, it worked fine. I have the homebrew channel on my menu but I have nothing in it. Having some issue on how to install homebrew stuff under the channel. Also I know this is going to sound dumb, but is the homebrew information run from the SD card (so it must always be installed) or memory?

My questions are as follows:
1. Do I need to downgrade to 3.2 to fully utilize homebrew? Or, am I ok, since I did a modchip install? Does it matter what version I am on?

2. What is the advantage of downgrading?

3. If it is best for me to downgrade, is there a single post (I did search before posting) that gives me all of the informaion and the files needed to do so? (from reading it looks confusing on what iso and installs that i need to do.

4. Also, with a modchip, do a I need the starfall hack, is it recommend to install and use while utilizing a modchip.

5. Finally what would be top things that I should have installed in homebrew? They only that comes up is the wad 1.3 manager... I am not sure if I am using it correctly. I tried to install the opera browser, but it keep giving me an error on install the wad. Would that be related to to the version 3.4 and the reason I need to downgrade?

Everything that I a reading does not fully clarify, but a lot of it I beleive is related to people using softmods. Is that correct?

I have been reading about a lot of people not being able to play backup games and I was also wondering if I have just been lucky or are the big issues with the backup games has to do with people using softmods?

Let me answer what I know.

No you don't but you should, 3.2 is till the best version to run homebrew.

If your modchip does not come with an update blocker, yes you should. If your modchip comes with one then it's to determine which one works better for you.

You will get better results playing back-up games with a chip, a chip usually lets you play about 70% of the games out there, then you would use the softmod to play the remaining 30%.

Edit:A new gen modchip pretty well lets you play all of your own region games with no hassles and most of the foreign games , some with minor hassles>>>modderman

Thank you for your response. After I posted I kept reading and reading I did find that one, I am trying it tonight. I found another good post that had a zipfile that SoraK05 that I found so informative the only thing that I am still alittle confused on after reading his wonderful collection is the starfall hack. I will contact my supplier and ask that quesiton....

Thanks again, I am really interested in getting a nice homebrew setup and the ablilty to run all the old classic nintendos so I am ecited to get into it. I am nervos about the downgrande but I will follow the post you recommended.

Starfall is also recommended if you are going to be "messing around" with Homebrew as it allows booting in recovery mode
