Can I update my wii with homebree?
*homebrew not homebree... Why autocorrect why?
Hi everyone! Before I start just going to say I am a major noob, I should have never tried anything funky with my Wii and if I could go back in time I wouldn't do it again.
So a few months ago, when I was absolutely PO'd for Animal Crossing for the 3DS being delayed again, I decided to play City Folk. And if you've played it I'm sure compared to the GameCube and DS games, it sucks. So I began watching videos of people hacking into their wii and using things like ACtoolkit to do a bunch of fun things. That's the only reason why I installed homebrew, and to be honest I don't think I even installed it correctly at all.
I didn't even do anything with it because I was too scared that I would brick my wii, so I just left the homebrew channel alone (and I still am). Not clicking it, not deleting it - nothing.
it sucks because a few games I have need to update, but since I know nothing of this I just don't play those games.
For Christmas, I got the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and I really, really want to play it. But it is requiring my system to update before I get to. As I said before, I never should have "installed" (if I even did it right) homebrew. I knew I couldn't do it but I did it anyways, without even learning at all about it. My SD card wasn't the right kind of card I should have been using, but I was desperate/stupid and did it anyways. My wii is currently fully functional, I'm just scared that if I allow my system to update that my wii will be bricked! Will it?
i don't care if it deletes Homebrew, as a matter of fact, I hope it does. It was pretty stupid of me to be messing with it in the first place, I'll totally admit that. I just really don't want my wii to break. My family bought it during happy times and I have a lot of pictures and game data on their with them, plus I'm the only one that uses the wii so I'll be the one killed for it. Not killed, scolded. Also I will be sad, eheh.
So, yeah. I know I'm not experienced but I would really appreciate someone's help. Anyone's. And I was told to jus the cautious and not be gullible with what everyone says (like the people who try to trick PC users into deleting system 32), so yeah.
heres the TL;DR:
I got skyward sword and it's asking me to update my system but I have homebrew and I am afraid my wii will be bricked. I think I installed boot I or something with it but I am not positive. Also, will homebrew be totally PURGED from my system after the update, with my wii still intact? (I'm hoping it does!)
Thank you anyone and everyone who gives me the time of day here, really. Thanks!
