I had a similar issue when I first started with WiiMC And tried to install the channel...turns out my IOSs were outdated and that's why it was failing, maybe you have the same issue? If you follow the "Softmod ANY Wii" guide here on WiiHacks it will install the latest IOSs which may solve your issue.

You should've updated your IOSs yes.
As for the Channel installer, it might not work with WiiMote+ I used my old one cause I didn't have the + at the time.

Thank you i appreciate the help. Im 2days old into this wii hack business!

So it looks like i should really get an old wiimote if im gonna be using homebrew right?

And if youve had any exp with wiimc..which video file plays the best . My mp4s stutter so i converted to xvid. But loss quality.

    Thanks again!

I believe new WiiMote+ work with some things but yeah, you're better off getting an older one for Homebrew cause the old ones always work.
As for what's best on WiiMC in my experience MKV and AVI are best, it just depends on how they're formatted. As long as you stick with 480p resolution and lower it should be ok, anything higher tends to have syncing issues.
