Cool [Windows/Ubuntu] DMLConv: DIOS MIOS GC backup converter

DMLConv v0.3beta: a simple gui wrapper for DiscEX and GCReEx.

    Requirements:

    For Ubuntu:
    - Ubuntu 12.04 (only tested on it, but should work on older versions or other distro that use gtk3)
    - wine >= 1.4
    - the DiscEX and GCReEx binaries (get them at the DIOS MIOS download page)

    For Windows:
    - winxp or win7 (not tested on vista nor win8, but should work)
    - the DiscEX and GCReEx binaries (get them at the DIOS MIOS download page)

    Screenshot (on windows xp):

    What it does?

    - Extract/Convert iso/gcm files with DiscEx and GCReEx
    - Extract them to the desired drive
    - Format drives to 32kb cluster (USB Drives), 64kb cluster (SD cards)
    - List all installed games on the selected drive and lets you delete them by selecting and clicking de delete (red) button
    - Display the storage info about the selected drive (available, used, and free space)
    - Repack extracted games with GCReEx by making an .iso file again

    How to use it:

The first time you run the app it will display a warning, something like this (the same on windows):

    Setting it up:
    - Download the DiscEX and GCReEx binaries (here), and extract them in the specified folders that the app will tell you

Extract games for using with DIOS MIOS:
    - Select the desired usb device where the games will be installed
    - Select the conversion mode (DiscEX -c by default, the last mode is for repacking, see the instructions below)
    - Select the desired .iso or .gcm file
    - Click the "Extract with something" button (you'll get the binary output in a terminal, just wait for it to finish)
    - Enjoy

Repack an extracted game with GCReEx (reverse mode):
    - Change the mode to GCReEx -c
    - Select the extracted game folder (the one with the GAMEID)
    - When clicking on the "Repack with GCReEx -c" button another folder selection dialog will pop up, this one for selecting where you want to save the .iso file (named out.iso, it can't be changed is a limitation of the binary)
    - Again, the output will be displayed in a terminal, just wait for it to finish
    - Enjoy

Format a drive for using with DIOS MIOS:
    - Select the desired usb device to format
    - Click on the "Format drive" button (on windows, the drive letter will be displayed; on ubuntu, the drive label will)
    - A new dialog will pop-up, please read the notice
    - Select the format mode (32k for USB drives, 64k for sd cards)
    - Change the drive label ('GCBACKUPS' by default)
    - Click on the "format drive with..." button (on windows, a terminal will pop-up, just press enter on the terminal and watch it finish; on ubuntu, it needs superuser permissions so it will ask for the password, you'll not get a terminal output as the command rarely display something useful)
    - Enjoy

    Deleting installed games:
    - Select the usb device where the games are installed
    - Click on the "Installed games on..." and you'll get a list of the installed games and their sizes
    - Select the game to be deleted and click on the delete (red) button
    - Enjoy

    Changelog:

    0.3-beta:

    - Added format with custom label feature
    - Added game listing and deleting feature
    - Added drive space info on game list dialog
    - Added game repack mode (reverse)
    - Added link to the compatibility list on the main window
    - Fixed missing icons (ubuntu)
    - Fixed typo on .deb requeriments, that caused problems with wine package (ubuntu)
    - Random bug fixes

    0.2-beta:

    - first release
    - windows release
    - Binary location change
    - Added notice for binary download
    - GUI bug fixes (ubuntu)

    0.1-alpha (ubuntu only):

    - Initial version, not released (only for my personal use)

    Download:

    Ubuntu:
    - deb installer (0.3-beta)
    - sources

    Windows:
    - zip contaning the exe (0.3-beta)
    - sources

    Notes:

    - As stated at the beggining of this post this app is at beta stage some things might break (don't worry, the games won't, as it uses the binaries provided by crediar), until now the binaries have worked fine on wine(ubuntu), but it won't guarantee that they will work forever (due to updates, and/or the unstability of wine)...

    - Apparently crediar has deprecated the DiscEX and GCReEx binaries, as seen on the download page (if i'm not wrong, this means no more updates and there's a possibility that he'll stop hosting them, who knows...), and released his own tool for install games (DMToolbox), so this is the last version of my tool as we're getting an official (and probably better on the future) version, although i'll be fixing any bug you report here but, no more features will be added...

    - Also, some feedback might be usefull for making it a better app and take out the beta tag...

PD to mods: sorry if this is the wrong section, if yes, please move this to the correct one, also, if it's possible, could you rename the thread and add the windows part in the title, sorry for that, when i made this thread the windows version wasn't planned...

    - Regards and Enjoy!

Coolio. Now we won't have that mistake of forgetting to set it to 32 clusters since the EASEUS default is 64.

Thanks! This program is sweet, I've only used Ubuntu since my HD crashed. The .deb installer didn't work for me, it said I couldn't fulfill the wine package requirement (may have to due with x64 compatibility issues), so I used the source and it works great!
Is there any chance of adding the enhancement of running it in reverse to create a .iso from an extracted game?

Mm... Maybe the wine x64 package is different from the x86 one, I'll remove that requirement from the .deb... In the next version (coming soon)...

If the crediar's binaries support the iso making from extracted backups I'll add it in the next version (0.3) then

    Thanks for the feedback...

The new version is up!! test and give some feedback

Apparently crediar has deprecated the DiscEX and GCReEx binaries, as seen on the download page (if i'm not wrong, this means no more updates and there's a possibility that he'll stop hosting them, who knows...), and released his own tool for install games (DMToolbox), so this is the last version of my tool as we're getting an official (and probably better on the future) version, although i'll be fixing any bug you report here but, no more features will be added...

    What's new on 0.3-beta:

    - Added format with custom label feature
    - Added game listing and deleting feature
    - Added drive space info on game list dialog
    - Added game repack mode (reverse)
    - Added link to the compatibility list on the main window
    - Fixed typo on .deb requeriments, that caused problems with wine package (my bad, if it still doesn't work tell me and i'll completly remove the wine requeriment) (ubuntu)
    - Fixed missing icons (ubuntu)
    - Random bug fixes

New screenshots (from the windows version):
