The Downgrade? You have to have the Homebrew Channel before you can do any upgrading or downgrading, and use WAD Manager, and follow the tutorials for downgrading. Its pretty easy. Just follow the directions really well.

Not sure if i really answered your question, but i hope i helped somewhat.

Ok I have the HBC installed, and I have the following files downloaded

    IOS36-64-v1042.wad

    apps/USBLoader/boot.dol

    apps/IOSCustomInstallerRev9/boot.dol

I am running FW 3.4U. None of the above are installed on my Wii but all on my SD card ready to be.

So first off, can I install this all and run it on FW 3.4U?
If USB Loader only works on 4.0U, can I update using the System Update feature (Official Update)?

    Is this the order of installation: 1. IOS36-64-v1042.wad, 2. apps/IOSCustomInstallerRev9/boot.dol, 3.
    apps/USBLoader/boot.dol.

If I need to update my firmware, do I install the IOS's after the update?

Also, I currently have no custom IOS's installed. The only homebrew I currently have on my Wii is the HBC.

NO do not officially update you will lose alot of features eg playing backup games! the new CIOS - http://www.wiihacks.com/news-annouce...der-1-1-a.html - this CIOS keeps the useage of these features.

NEVER upgrade EVER! unless using the CIOS's and IOS's provided by the developers (NOT FROM NINTENDO)

Dont know if i helped much but hopefully i did. if you want to downgrade your buddies system their is a great downgrading tutorial on here. Maybe you could downgrade his to the same as yours then try them both out and let us know how everything went.
yea just tried the wbfs manager 1.0 it installed but wont regconize the drive, i am on vista so that could be the issue if it dosent work with vista, i also tried athk gui it wouldnt recgonize the drive through the cmd prompt....so has anyone been succesful tranfering games on a vista system?

to the second thing both the systems are running tne 4.0 update waninkoko released..but im thinkin its the hdd i have because mine was running fine i installed four games no prob the fifth it just froze at the opening disc ok part....i noticed that if i leave the hdd off for a bit then try i can install a bunch of games but then after so many it freezes on the install screen.....but i can get it working again buy just unpluggin drive for a sec and pluggin back in.....if the hdd has been continually running then after ever game install i gotta restart and unplug and plug back in..so just seems like after its been running and is warmed up the hdd it runs into problems at the loader screen....but if im in a game i havent seen any problems just keeps running....which whatever i can deal with those issues until i find a better drive

my big question is being able to get the stuff from my comp to it instead of having to burn discs still...i dont know if its just the drive that wont allow itself to be read when using the manager or gui, or is it vista?

What won't it recognise? Are you just getting the Format pop-up?

You won't be able to open the drive in vista it will come up with this error once inserted - -If so it is working fine....

@a.t.h.k, Ok. I think I'll do an install of the IOS and CIOS tomorrow and test if the I can even get the USB Loader to run. If I can get it to run, that's when I'll get a hard drive.

Here's a question. I have a 60GB iPod Video (5th Generation) which I only use for storage because the screen on the iPod is broken. I know that if I was to format it to WBFS, it would have to be in disk mode and all the files on it would be erased. Since all the files would be erased, would I not be able to reboot the iPod since all it's system data is erased rendering it useless?

How would I go about doing that?

And if this is important, a few months ago, I converted it from FAT32 to NTFS (convert, not format, so no files were lost).

If you already formatted it i would assume it should be ok so just go ahead and format to WBFS

A format will erase all data, is that correct? I did not format it before. I converted it. No data was lost. I just need to know how to create a single partition (on PC) in WBFS. And thanks for all the advice. If it all works out, I owe you big time.
