    Wii balance board battery connectors

Hi i wonder if someone can help me i lent my wii and balance board to someone and when they have returned it they have taken the rechargeable battery pack out stuck some cheap batteries in and they have corroded one of the contacts. It's the main back left spring contact that the rechargeable battery pack uses. Can anyone advise a repair method or if you can buy the contacts and replace them or if you can buy the battery unit. i haven't took it apart yet but it looks like if you take the 2 screws out the unit then comes out.

    Thanks for your help

I would try cleaning the corrosion first. Perhaps this can help you: How to Clean Battery Corrosion and Build Up - wikiHow

Hi. The actual spring as corroded away so theres no contact now. Its the main spring that attaches to the board underneath i have took a spring from a different connector and replaced the one on the board but that doesn't seem to have worked I'm going to have to reopen it and have a proper look when i have the time tomorrow.

if it just the spring contacts, find a old piece of electronics that take batteries and gut it and use them for your balance board, if you are handy with a desoldering station and such. It is an easy fix regardless...

Hi thanks for the replies yeah i have taken it apart and sorted the main spring contact that sits on the power board it looks fine no corrosion but still won't power on. Not sure if the rechargeable battery pack is even working doesn't appear to be charging so ordered a new one since they only cheap. Seems like everything is going against me lol. Hopefully once they battery pack arrives at the start of next week can get it sorted so they little girl can have ago

    thanks again for the replies.

I would but I used the spring from one of the other contacts to fix the main spring contact on the power board and I to lazy to possible fix it to work with normal batteries the fact the charge light isn't coming on the battery I assuming that broke. Think next time I won't be lending my stuff to people

Lightbulb cut up a safety pin

I had a similar issue when my kids mixed rechargeable and regular batteries in the Wii balance board. The acid leaked and the springs corroded. But I figured out a quick fix - see photos. The springs look just like the spring-end of a safety pin, so I just snipped the ends of two safety pins and fixed them in with needle-nose pliers. Safety pins conduct electricity and the fix works fine.
You might need to do some more fancy legwork to deal with the fourth spring since it is hidden behind a cap, but hopefully by shuffling the good springs around you can get this to work. I did take pictures but this rather lame chat feature needs you to supply a URL rather than just upload form your computer... But let me know if you need them. Cheers.
