How to change Wii motherboard?

I have a D3-2 Wii and am wanting to change my DVD drive motherboard to a DMS/D2B or D2C one. I'd just like to know, what is the disassembly and installation process like for undertaking this task?

After a bit of searching I've read some saying it's dead easy and some say it's complex as all hell, so I'd just like to know the truth from someone experienced with this problem/task.

Edit: I'm also willing to spend a little more in buying a complete replacement DVD drive if replacing the motherboard is too fidley.

Try this guide. This is not a wiihacks guide but I have followed it myself and it is pretty good. A few small things missing but just pay attention to what you are doing and you will be fine.

And since this is clearly not a newbie discussion topic, moved.

LOL, I see that now. You can follow the guide as as far as taking out the DVD drive or follow this guide which is a wiihacks guide (sorta). I shouldn't be that hard at the point to remove the DVD mother board.

Thanks, Krafter. I've taken apart Wiis before an installed chips, so I'm right in disassembling the Wii itself.

After a little thinking, I've decided I'll just purchase a whole new DVD drive as it's a simple plug-and-play solution. Even though it's a little more expensive than buying a lone DVD drive motherboard, I do need to get a new soldering iron, and I'm not sure on all the technicalities in replacing the board. Plus, the time and hassle saved will be worth that little extra spent.

PS: Just in case anyone is curious as to why I want to replace my drive/motherboard, it's because, as we know, the D3-2 drives can't play backup discs, and in order to play backed-up Gamecube games at the moment, discs are the only way. Yes, I know there's the WODE for booting Gamecube ISOs, but it doesn't support streaming audio, and for many Gamecube games, a disc is needed, thus requiring an earlier drive than the D3-2.

Edit: After a little more reasearch, replacing the DVD drive motherboard is relatively simple and is compatible will any drive (as they're all the same generic drive). It requires unclipping three things, undoing two screws and desoldering (or at least melting the existing solder) then resoldering (or melt the soldered points on the new board) 6 wires. I may consider this option now that I know it's relatively simple and there are no compatibility complications.

I think cracking it open is easy enough, if i remember rightly you have to solder one place that is the bluetooth or [COLOR=darkblue ! important][/COLOR]wifi onto the mainboard. i cant solder but looks a piece of pie for anyone that can!
