DVD drive dead

My DVD drive finally died (unhacked wii) Need a new drive as the drive takes in DVD's but doesn't load them. Since I saw a place that sell DVD drives with wiikey2 preinstalled I was wondering if that was a good option.

So you've never softmodded or hacked the wii and the disc drive dosn't play Wii games or DVDs?

No perfectly 100% never hacked. Put a dvd in there it spins for a while and asks you to reboot and refer to manual. I tried updating to current firmware, same results.

so now your at 4.1 right? bannerbomb it, and use a usb loader, u dont need the drive for anything anymore. sweet. get an external hdd and your styling

If your trying to run a DVD (not a game) that won't work as the code that allows the Wii to read DVDs is locked and requires softmodding before it will work.

Ment it wont play games. Trying to figure out best way to go. before I crack her open. saw a place selling replacement drives with wiikey2 already modded for $160

Either ring Nintendo and see what they say or go ahead and get the drive changed.

All depends on what modchip you want installed and the compatability of that modchip.

$60 ebay! You can get a new one! Just make sure it is the same one you got! order the 4 screw driver set too!! It's very easy open the system and change it out, refer to you tube!! If you don't know which it is, use the wii drive generator and put your serial # in and it will tell you!!
