Ok, i figured I installed it correctly, but for some reason the DVD drive doesnt respond sometimes and wont eject and take in discs. And then the game problem, sometimes when I put the games in they work for a second, but when I click the Start button at the menu, the game goes to start up, and the "Problem with CD" text pops up.The red and blue LEDs on the mod chip light up when the Wii powers on, so whats the problem? I have a GC2-D2E Wii I'm pretty sure, so I only had to use the A, B, C, G, and 3v3 and GND according to the Install Instructions here [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. I shortened some of the wires so I could close up the Wii again, was I not suppose to shorten the wires or close the Wii back up? PLZ HELP!

In all honesty mate thats a very poor install, if youve got your heart set on installing it yourself have a look at a few soldering guides online and get the basics of soldering 101 down first ( theres a few on youtube).

then exam some pictures of professional installs and try and mimic the way they have there installs done. This is the best way how to do it, otherwise take it to someone in the know.

I can see whilst soldering you have used the solder like glue, just made it soft and rubbed it over the pads, you actually need to heat up the pad so the solder adheres to the heated pad not just lump it all over.

Several Suggestions:

- Always keep wires as short as possible
- Stranded wire works better
- Keep as much insulation on the wire as possible
- Get some good quality solder paste and use it on the Wii
- Your soldering iron tip seems too big
- Your soldering iron tip seems too hot
- Get a resitance meter (DMM) and check for shorts to neighboring connections (B&C look bridged from here)
- NEVER put the thing back together until it works

A Few More Suggestions:

- Tin (apply solder) to all points before connecting. Both chip and Wii pads/points AND wire.

- Use flux on all points before soldering (after tinning)

- In your pic, it looks like your Power wire is shorted to the resistor that is directly to the right of the power point on the Wii board. Shorten the wires and do not strip insulation as much.

- When I install a WiiKey 2, I add solder to the ground point on the Wii board. Then I add solder to the GND point on the chip. I then match up the GND on the chip to the point on the board. While heating both points of solder, I bridge them together. This does two things. Eliminates the need for wire for the GND point and it secures the chip to the board. Then I connect the Power using 22 AWG solid strand wire. The remaining points A B C and G I use 30 AWG Kynar wire. After a test, I cover the chip with electrical tape to reduce the chance of a short when reassembling the Wii.

I think you should be ok. Just shorten your wires, only strip about 1/16th on an inch of insulation off, make sure no bare wires are touching an other components and see what happens.

reintall is a must for u, as seen on those pics.
pic-1: shorten the Gnd wire, stranded/heavy gauge recommanded.
pic-2: excessive solder on all joints, near D2E chip. causes: poor workmanship, over sized tip, lack of pre-tin. excessive stripped wires.
pic-3: excessive stripped wire, potential circuit short.

a good solder joint should show the contour of wire and shinny wetting around pad-&-wire. u're not up to standard !
