HELP Wii cannot read discs! IOS PROBLEM OR NOT??

Hey i recently softmodded my wii, but that was because it was not reading any discs and i had no choice but to backup games to usb. I had recently bought a new laser and installed it but it STILL does not read discs! Is this a problem with my ios or whatever? I just dont know what to do, I still want to play my old GC and wii games!

EDIT: Also forgot to mention, the disc spins just as if it was actually working, but then just when you think its working it says "Disc cannot be read" or "an error has occured" etc.

Does the disc spin? If not the dive drive motor may be bad. Also did you remove the solder point before installing the laser?

Yes, the disc spins, i did remove the solder point but i accidentally soldered through the ribbon ; i thought that killed the laser, but when i observe the disc and laser in action the laser still moves and has that red light visible through the disc.

Don't bump your thread unless its been 24 hours. Be patient and someone will assist you. You can always search and research your problem while waiting.

Post a system check if you want someone to comment on IOS CIOS setup. Maybe the soldering iron did the trick, Might spin up ok but who knows what damage was done to other tracks on that very fragile ribbon connector. You could always use a friends wii to rip your originals to a hdd for you.

You didn't softmod from this site. I would suggest following the softmod any Wii guide. But i don't think it will help your problem. I bet it has something to do with soldering through the ribbon.
