Can't locate movies on my external drive

    Hey,
I have a bunch of my child's favorite movies backed up on his Wii's external HDD and can't locate them. I used to be able to access them when I had the old school loader, but since I added the GX, I can't seem to find them anywhere. It's a 1 Tera and there were like 10 gigs of kids movies, when I plug the HDD into my lappie, the movies along with jpegs show up immediately, on the other space is the games I work with in WBFS Manager. I suppose my first question is does GX have it's own media player? If not, perhaps a recommendation of which you are using these days, the Wii was set up in 2009 and Mplayer was the one I'd access them with. Oh, Mplayer is still there but I can't view the movies within it any more since the Loader upgrade to GX
    Thanks much

Hey thanks for that, not sure if it'll help with my inability to locate the movies, but it'll be nice to have a better player than the original Mplayer which I didn't really care for when I could open my movies with it. What happens, if more info will help, is I go to MPlayer and click on "open" and I just end up in an endless loop of "file/open/disc" or whatever your choices are and no videos ever show up. I'll surely try the player you and others recommend.

WiiMC is your best bet. Put all your movies in one directory and then set said directory as the movies directory in WiiMC (not sure what the default movies directory is).

Yes it does. You might want to look into the app Homebrew Browser. It allows you to download a bunch of apps (including WiiMC and the WiiMC Channel Installer) directly from the Wii. Then you don't have to bother extracting or copying anything to the SD card.

It worked perferctly and it's a very simple to use. I downloaded the WiiMC, saved it to my desktop, opened up my SD card and dragged every file WiiMC presnted me, the boot dol. and about 6 small files, dragged them to an empty file I created and named WiiMC in my apps folder of my Wii's SD card, launched my GX, opened the WiiMC player in homebrew and "bang", all my movies gloriously alphabetized with a very clean, well laid-out menu and the movie files open as fast as you can blink, no loading, no delay, you can scroll from the first minute of the film to the last as fast as your mouse will click, I love everything about it, so thank you guys! Stuff is never this easy for me, but since you're feeling like Santa Clause, do you know if you can add jpegs of the film covers? My son isn't old enough to read all his movie titles so he could do it himself with pics. Can't wait to try more new stuff. Peace

Oh, I haven't been able to get Priiloader to work so I'm afraid to risk bricking my system if I do stuff from my Wii, I have the homebrew with my new media player thanks to you good folks, a few more blocks used by the old game systems (SNES, Gameboy etc), LoaderGX and Priiloader but now I want more apps!

It's stored the same as any other app (on the SD card or USB HDD). Here is the HBB page on WiiBrew
