Do you mean like 720p-1080p? If so then the answer is No.
The max a wii can do is 480p....and that's not even for all games since some only support 480i.
But I play my wii on my hdtv and have it hooked up with component cables...slightly better in that it cleans up some games a bit but it's nothing drastic.

480p is indeed max native resolution for the Wii. There are upscaler devices, they do the job but "not great." Here and here are some things to read about that...
you get a bit nicer picture if you ditch the composite RGB that came with the wii, try to find an oem component adapter online for cheap
SO if let say I purchase a hd component cable, I will be able to play my games in HD right?
no, because the Wii only outputs 480p

Just try to find a cheap component cable (first or third party...I don't think it matters) and you'll be good to go. You'll never get graphics out of the wii that'll compare to xbox or ps3.
