brick happens when u update the 3.xU wii with out of region games (ie. an import - J, E, P - disc/iso & backup).
ok with the same version i won't brick my moded set but will my moded set still be able to play downloaded games(not original) after updating?

keep yourself at 3.2u unless 'really' neccessary !!!
though updating would not brick any moded set, 3.3u would block faking signed games (iso), of which u don't want it to impact ur backup library.
while ur wiifit can play via BackUp Channel, keep the practice. why not?

not sure that this will help in anyway but what you can do if you want to load it from the disc channel, when you first load the gamma loader on the gamma loader screen wait like 30 seconds then hit the B button on your wii mote and then you should be able to load it from the disc channel.

Guys I have GHWT (both original and "Back Up").
I soft modded my wii with Backup Lancher and Gamma Launcher Channel and am on Firmware 3.2E.
My problem is that I recently bought the drums for GHWT but they dont seem to be working... seen this anywhere before?
I'm thinking of doing a wii firmware upgrade now to the latest, incase this has the fixes - but am not sure what will happen... will i still be able to play "backed up games"?

Some of the drums just have defects, you may have to take it back.

no harm to update wii. GHWT is playable on Gamma. the key is complete installation of cIOS and IOSs.
no impact to back up games, as well.

Hi guys. Every thread I open I end up looking puzzled more than ever. I am a noobie to Wii and I just want simple answers.

Facts: Two weeks ago I bought a Wii and modded it. I don't know the mod chip nor the version of the Wii. I downloaded Rock Band II to test it with Wiimote and if it works will buy a guitar.

    Questions:

    1. Do I need to know the chip type for some sort of updating?
    2. Is updating necessary for games?
    3. From where I can find the version of my Wii?
    4. Does the Wii have to be updated for Rock Band II or Guitar Hero?
    5. If yes which tread do I have to follow WITHOUT bricking my Wii?
    6. Rock Band II crashes in the very beginning of intro. DO you think it is a symptom of bad downloading or an update?

    Thanks for your replies

    Thanks for your replies

Well I have made a good search and the problem is that each thread is a distinct answer from what I might need.

As regards my Wii version it is 3.4E
