Ok that's fair...I remember that Zelda was initially supposed to come out on the Gamecube, wasn't it? I also remember the Gamecube boasting that it was more powerful than the PS2 but never really felt that I saw it being used to its full potential...except maybe with RE4, IMO.

Yeah, Zelda was supposed to come out on Gamecube and still is. There's going to be two versions. That's why the graphics are pretty meh.

I told myself I would never buy another system at launch when the N64 came out. I just never find the time to play. Heck, I only got my Xbox this year and it took me 2 or 3 months before I even opened it.

Anyway, I plan to have all three. Wii for all the Nintendo exclusives and cool neat unique games and the Xbox360 for games like GoW and PGR series. I did, however, ended up with a PS3 20GB just a few days ago. Nothing exciting to play until MGS4 though.

Personally, I hope the Wii knocks PS3 and XBOX360 on their asses! $500-$600+ for a console is ridiculous. They promise great things with new iterations of consoles, but in the end it's all the same crap with fancier eye candy.

Nintendo is the only innovator of the group. I wish them all the success and hope it knocks some sense into the others to do something different for a change.

Wii360 for me. 360 will take care of all the serious gaming needs, but where would I be without Mario Kart?

what is not innovate about the 360? it has superb graphics and great games to start with. next, it has the xbox live system that not only lets you play games online with other people, but download demos, trailers, and now TV shows and movies. they said they envisioned the xbox 360 as being the centre of a person's home entertainment unit and when i first heard this i thought it was nonsesne, but after having one a for a year, i find that it does so much for what it is, i use it quite often for things i would never expect. others may follow suit with these sort of features, but i'm comfortable saying that microsoft has lead the way in this department for sure. what do you think they are doing wrong that warrants them needing some sense knocked into them?

What I think they are doing wrong is they are making the console more like a PC. 360 freezes up like a PC, but bring none of the benefits. The simplicity of plugging in a game and just having it work is fading as the consoles get more complex. Trying to make the console do a lot of things that it really wasn't meant to do makes it more susceptible to problems, as well as jacking up the price.

Stick to the basics. Make it simply a console that just works and has a simple interface for online play. Forget making it a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray movie player. The interface should be bare bones. I think Nintendo did it right. The 360 can't even play a small subset of XBOX games. That sucks.

Nintendo managed backward compatibility with no problems (or so I hear). I don't hate the PS3 or XBOX360, but I don't like the direction that they are taking the console world. Especially when you can get a very capable gaming PC for the same price as these consoles (after you factor in the cost of all the accessories).

i have a 360 and i'm happy with it so far
Actually the SIXAXIS has only tilt sensing whereas the Wiimote can detect its position in a 3D space. Therefore, the potential (for motion) is much higher with the Wiimote than the SIXAXIS controller.

Xbox 360 is constantly adding new backward compatibility support via downloads. They say their goal is to have all original Xbox games playable on the 360. PS3 has announced that some games won't be backwards compatible but I don't know the extent of that list or if they will provide updates to change this.

I agree that Nintendo has stood firm on their resolution to not make their console anything more than a gaming machine and that's pretty cool. I don't like using my 360 to play DVDs mainly because I don't want to put the motor through non-gaming stress in the interest of extending its lifetime...but since my standalone DVD player crapped out, it's nice to have this option on the 360.

I don't agree about getting a gaming computer that would be the same as an Xbox 360, though. Computers get bogged down and are too susceptible these days to various type of malware and viruses. I prefer gaming on a console built for gaming - this would include any standalone console like the Xbox or Wii. I find that I kept having to buy too many upgrades to keep my computer up to speed with the newest gaming technology and it wasn't worth the investment in the end when I had more fun playing Rogue Squadron on my Gamecube or Doom 3 on my Xbox 360. Just a personal preference, of course. Oh yeah, and my 360 really doesn't freeze up like a PC - maybe your experience is with a faulty unit?
