Will Nintendo Lower The Price Of The Wii Soon?

I was wondering if Nintendo has any plans to lower the price of the Wii in a few months since they have Wii sports listed seperatly on the Gamestop site with a price of $49.99. If they are not going to include the game with the console then will they do the right thing and lower the price of the console to $199.99? Even if they kept the price at $249.99 and added component cables instead of the game alot of people would want that deal instead. I heard that Wii Sports is not packaged in a DVD style case like all the other Wii games so people just may want to hold out for the retail version if you are fussy about your game collection having a uniform look.

It'll probably reduce after Christmas, but it won't be much, considering the current price is a steal compared to the XBOX and PS3.

The listing for Wii Sports on the Gamestop site is leftover from back when it was going to be sold seperately.

I doubt they are all ready going to have a price drop. Everyone is gobbling it up because it is all ready so much cheaper than the competition so why lower prices? Nintendo wants to make some money! :P

I would think the price should stay about the same for about a year... i think xbox hasn't really reduced its price yet...

I would agree with Jumper. It's not going to be outdated anytime soon and Nintendo's prices are already way below the competition.

They won't lower the price of a next gen console yet.. since they only come out every 5 years minimum and it hasn't even been a month since Wii came out, plus Nintendo Wii is quite cheap compared to its competitors. Other than lowering the MRSP which I doubt will happen in-store discounts might happen but certainly not anytime soon, Xbox360 has a good chance to though since there were some official news on that but definitely not Wii or PS3 (since PS3 is losing like $200USD each unit sold).

Microsoft has announced that it is able to now lower prices as xboxes are cheaper to produce now and they are not losing any money as they were before, however they have not said they will reduce prices yet. Nintendo is already profiting off each nintendo sold and losing any money..looks like ps3 is the only console losing money for the moment.

Nintendo is making money off everything, right? Including accessories like Wiimote and nunchuk.

I don't think Wii Sports would sell very well as a standalone game--especially not for $50. I mean, it's fun to play, but it's just not as polished as most other retail games.

As a bundled game, it's amazing--it really helped me get used to the new control system. I think they'll keep bundling it with the system for a while (just like Mario bros./duckhunt on the NES).
