Im new here and need a little help ;)

Hey. I'm new here and need a little help.
    Today, i decided to give in to the prompt that wanted me to update the Homebrew Channel, as i am pretty much fed up of its message popping up every time my network initalizes (which is pretty often). There are 2 problems;
    1. Within the download proceedure, the download cancels just saying "error". No error code or description or whatever.
    2. If the download sucsessfully gets to 100%, I face a black screen and my wiimote has lost connection.

Incase you need some details to help me out, my Wii's version is 3.2E and i am running a Homebrew version of "beta 8" and I am updating to 1.0.8.

Of course I am not updating my wii to the 4.0 firmware or up In fear this will either remove the Homebrew Channel or damage the wii (or worse, brick it).

I would appreciate if you helped, cos it will do my life good to get that annoying update prompt out of the way

    Thanks.

    WiiBrewItUp.

Ok. First get yourself the latest Hackmii installer HERE!
    And install HBC 1.0.8.
Then install ios58 with the ios58 installer HERE!
Then go back to the Hackmii installer and re-install the HBC
    and your done!
    And introduce yourself!

both are apps, yes the apps folder is where you want to place them. Run the ios58 installer first, then hackmii.

So far, i understand the instructions as:
    1. extract the hackmii installer v8 and ios58 installer to the "apps folder at the root of your SD card
    2. run HackMii to get version 1.0.8
    3. run ios58 installer (because the site says ios58 installer can only be ran on 1.0.8
    4. when finished, go back to hack mii installer and re-install the homebrew channel so the ios58 can initialize

    am i correct?

Yes, that's right! except I think you mean HBC will choose ios58 by default when you say initialize.

Ok i have the ios58 installer with the icon and stuff, but when i get onto the homebrew channel, i have a new app that is called "/apps/hackmii_installer_v0.8/boot.elf". I''m assuming this is the hackmii. shall i still run this? It has no description, no icon and it says its version is "<unknown>" and its coder is "<unknown>". Shall i still run this? I'd say its pretty clever it located the boot.elf file....

For hackmii go to wii settings then data management, then SD and a load boot.elf pop up will appear, click yes, or ok, or whatever it says.
You dont load it through the HBC! But the ios58 installer you do load through the HBC.

I have found a site saying you need to extract the boot.elf from the hackmii installer v0.8 file. Should i trust this? I added the hackmii installer v0.8 to the apps folder (oh crumbs!). Plus there is a boot.elf lready on the root of my SD card (its been there ever since I installed beta 8 homebrew channel). Is it safe to delete that? or should i just rename it?

You should be able to launch hackmii installer through your existing HBC, no need for all that settings data management sd stuff. You should have sd\\apps\hackmii installer\boot.elf
Sometimes the boot.elf needs to be changed to boot.dol.
