Not a problem we all start somewhere. Yes extract the file to your sd card. The instructions are laid out in the syscheck guide. Follow those instructions, then post your syscheck back here.

You need to re-mod your wii. Follow the Guide: Softmod ANY Wii link at the bottom of this post. Since it appears that homebrew is working you can probably get away with starting at Chapter 2 of the guide.

    Verify Checksums -very important
On your PC, navigate to your sd card
Run sd:\md5summer.exe (this is run on your computer, not the wii)
    Click "Verify Sums", Select "ModPack.md5"
All check sums should verify without error (very important)
Click "Verify Sums" again, Verify CIOS-PACK.md5, IOS Update.md5, and any others you have
All Checksums should verify without issue. Errors = Bad News, so try again

this is where i got stuck...i dont know how to run ...like do i go to a certain folder or something?

You don't extract it TO the external drive. You extract it to your computer, run it from your computer, and use it to format your external drive.

EDIT: You are mis-reading directions here. Please be very careful to follow the directions EXACTLY as they are written, otherwise bad things could happen to your wii....
