How much would you sell a hacked Wii?

Just curious... I was thinking of selling mine with the hard drive and games atttached to it.. I know the Wii new is about $250 dollars...

I figure a used Wii is worth around $100 dollars. Then add in the work done for the softmod..

Now I know the softmod is free BUT... Not everyone knows how to mod a Wii. So basically I am taching on the installation charge.

Would you say $150 dollar is fair? I am adding in the hard drive if they want it. A 500GB Western Digital I bought for $100 dollars a year-ish ago. I think $40 dollars for it would be fair. So altogether I'm thinking of $250 bucks with two controllers as well.

It depends on where you sell it, who you sell it to, and when it was made. Is it bootmii/boot2 capable and can it play DVD's/backup discs?

Ill check back on the year but it was a 4.2u version.. I have the app for playing DVD's but never tested it so I will check on that as well..

I think I installed using the bootmii.

Oh this is going to be sold to a person that is computer illiterate most likely.
I'm not trying to screw someone over on price, but I do want what I think is "fair."

Your price scale is off. A brand new Wii is $199.99. A factory refurb runs you about $120 and includes all of the same accessories as a new one including Wii Sports. The only time a Wii is around $250 now days is if it is a special bundle that includes extra games and controllers. If your Wii is in good condition and you are including everything that came with it I would say it is worth about $80-$100 softmod or not. But the value is in the eyes of the buyer. If you can get $150 for it and you feel comfortable conscience wise then get it. As Joostin pointed out you may be able to get a little bit more than my suggested price if it is an older unit capable of insalling BootMii as boot2 and playing burned discs.

i think the replies are spot on and you shouldnt charge for some thing that you got for free, but then there is time so if they werent confident to do ut there self then it might be ok to charge a little extra

Personally, I don't have a problem with people charging for softmoding as long as they are not selling the software itself. The bricked section is full of people that couldn't handle the task and a lot of them ended up with a paper weight. So, $120 is a fair price for a Wii with all the accessories if it is in good working condition. Add $30 labor for softmoding for a total of $150 for the Wii. $100 dollars is quite high for the hard drive though. You can buy one new for as low as $60 here. In my opinion you might be able to get $180 - $190 out of it.

I am not trying to sell the software at all. I am just selling the labor I performed. As Krafter pointed out even softmodding the Wii can prove to be too high a task for some people. Think of a computer technician fixing people's computers using completely free (and EASY to use, way easier than softmodding) software. I charge $20 dollars to friends to fix up their mucked up computers where as other technicians can charge ridiculous amounts such as $50 and UP.

I am not trying to sell the hard drive for $100 I said I paid $100 but want $40 for it.

The Wii is in near perfect condition, I babied the hell out of it. I am also including a second controller with the Wii remote sensor($50 new, I figure it's worth the extra $20).

Games are ones on the hard drive already which include Zelda, New Mario Bros., Three Resident Evils, and House of the Dead. Most of these I burned using USBloader.
If it helps I got the Wii late in 09.

When I worked as an intern at network operations at my school, the guy I worked with said that we charge for our knowledge. This came up because I had a hard time grasping how computer technicians make so much money just for installing Windows.. It just came into mind.
