Question DVD Read Error. Unable to run backups. Any solutions?

When I first soft-modded my Nintendo Wii I thought I was going to be able to run burned Gamecube and Nintendo Wii games on DVD-R's. I followed a guide I found on YouTube bye "HMN" to install the Homebrew Channel and BootMii using Smash Brothers Brawl. I did the NAND back up and installed priiloader, downgraded from 4.3U to 4.1U, installed darkcorp, CMIOS, and MIOS. But still the gamecube backup launcher and neogamma would not run any burned games. I would get DVD read error 1167 or something like that. I bought my Wii in 2009-2010 so im pretty sure I have the new D3-2. I haven't opened my Wii to know for sure though. So basically my question is what can I do at this point? Can I buy a older Wii DVD drive and take the one I have now out? Is there a new Mod-Chip that will work with my system? I know about the SunDriver and the Wode, are those worth buying? Am I doing something wrong?

You could plug your serial number in here.

    Nothing without spending money.

    Yes.

There are but I don't think any of them will give you the ability to play burned discs, only load through a HDD or SD card.

    That's a personal opinion.

    Nope...You're limited by your hardware.

I get this when I put in less then half the serial number
The console has model number RVL-001(USA), produced for Mexico/Canada/USA.
    • There is a 44% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.
    • And there is also a 28% chance the chipset is GC2-D4 on a smaller drive board.
    • And a 17% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip.
    • And a 6% chance the chipset is GC2R-D2A.
    • Lastly, a 6% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).

I get this when I do the full serial number
The console has model number RVL-001(USA), produced for Mexico/Canada/USA.
    • There is a 100% chance the chipset is GC2-D4 on a smaller drive board.

Then your drive is even newer than a D3-2 and are 100% unable to play burned DVDs.

Your what? Nintendo Wii or Gamecube? Was it ever able to run original games? What did you install or do before it was unable to run original games?

Mine is Nintendo Wii. It can play original games but not able to watch DVD movies. I guess it has something to do with the hardware limitation of newer Wii's. Though after doing a soft mod I and loading WiiMC I am now able to watch movies through the usb. Would have been nicer if I can watch movies though through the DVD disc.
