    GC Backups on my wii?

Is there a way that I can play gc backups on my D3-2 drive without hardmodding the wii, because i cant hardmod my wii in the meantime.

No. There was promise with DIOS MIOS but that appears dead now.

You could look into the WODE, but it's an expensive hardware mod.

Just so you know, hardmodding won't help you either. Unless you get yourself a WODE or sundriver (both of which emulate the DVD drive rather then fooling it like normal modchips do)

The D3-2 drive is unable to read burned discs no matter what.

I wonder, since Dios Mios is apparentlly dead, if there is a way to run the Dolphin emulator on the Wii just to play GC games?

I highly doubt it. Dolphin is a very demanding emulator. The Wii just doesn't have the power for it. Just think about how well Wii64 works.

Yeah, it just kills me that this thing is a glorified GameCube that can't play GameCube games.

That makes no sense. It plays GC games just fine. At least I haven't had any problems. Newer owners are restricted from playing GC backups by their drive but that's about all.
