    Partially-Corrupted GC save data

So I've been searching for my GameCube memory cards for a while and I found one. I was pretty happy, until of course I plugged it into my Wii. I went into the data management screen and noticed that there was one file on it: SoulCalibur II from October 2003, which I must have rented at some point. I went ahead and booted up WWF WrestleMania X8.

The first thing that popped up said that the memory card needed to be reformatted, as there was corrupt data on it. I thought it was a little strange, but I said ok and formatted it. Everything seemed fine, and it saved the game.

When I finished playing, I went into the Options menu to save it again. At this point, it says once again that the memory card is corrupted and that it needed to be formatted. I said no and powered off the Wii.

When I turned it back on, I went back into the data management screen. It said that the memory card was corrupted and that a reformatting was required. I went ahead and said OK. I then returned to the game, which for the third time told me that the memory card needed to be reformatted.

I said no and that I'd continue without saving. I then restarted my Wii and the game. It didn't tell me that it was corrupted and it saved the system data. However, now when I go into the Options menu to save my game, it usually tells me it is corrupted and needs to be reformatted. When I say no and that I'll continue without saving, I press A on Save Game again and it saves without a problem.

I honestly have no idea what is going on. It's all pretty strange. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a solution?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that it's a Madcatz 59 block memory card. Also, not sure if this is important, but I have a soft-modded 4.2U Wii with cIOS249-rev20.

I heard that some memory cards give problems. I don't remember which they are though.
N ones would be the best

Thanks for the info. I'll check into the Nintendo brand memory cards.

Has anyone had these types of problems with the Nintendo memory cards?

I've got a official GC card that's never cause me an problems. I've used it forever too. But then again I've got two cheap generic Chinese 64MB cards that have never caused me any problems. Maybe your card is just going bad.

Hmm. You're probably right, it's probably just my card. No problem, it's just time to buy a new one. All I really need is a 251, now that there's homebrew that allows copying GC data to-and-from an SD card. Shouldn't be too expensive. Thanks guys.
