    Wii survey for college...

Survey over, thank everyone for their input. Results can be found HERE.

I am a college student at a community college and in just 2 weeks I have to deliver an informative speech in my public speaking class, and I have chosen to give a speech about the following…

“To inform my audience about the after-market software options for a wii console owner.”

It is my intention to speak on the following main points…
-A brief history of homebrew development
    -Disk/USB backup loading
    -The Peril’s of privacy
-Nintendo’s attempts to thwart homebrew development

I am required to have outside sources from my own knowledge/”BS”, and a survey is applicable. I would greatly appreciate anyone who has the time available to copy the below survey and supply your answers for me. To avoid public debate, I would appreciate all responses to be sent to my email or send via PM if it is easier. If you post a post in this thread simply stating that you supplied a survey, you will receive a thank you for it. Thank you in advance, if applicable.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest, and 10 being the highest…

    1) Rate your personal level of expertise in wii homebrew application creation
    2) Rate your personal level of expertise in wii homebrew installation
    3) Rate your personal level of expertise in wii homebrew use/knowledge
    4) Rate the usefulness of Disc backup loading
    5) Rate the usefulness of USB backup loading
    6) Rate the threat of piracy on the homebrew community
    7) Rate the threat of piracy on the video gaming community
    8) Rate the effectiveness of Nintendo’s system updates to thwart homebrew

Please answer the following freeform questions truthfully, and you will remain anonymous

    9) What reason did you purchase your wii?
    10) What reason did you apply software modification to your wii?
    11) Have you ever pirated software for the wii?
    12) If yes to the above, how often?
    13) If applicable, do you prefer using Disc backup loading or USB backup loading?
    14) What is the most common homebrew application used on your wii other then backup loading applications, if applicable?
    15) Is there anything else you would like to add? If so, write here.

How do I know you're not the internet police?!?!?!?! J/K I'll honestly answer you within a couple of days when I get a chance to. I'm still working on my MAME list.

    hey,
good idea, and i am willing to participate. but i want to give some input, further thoughts.
i am not sure about your audiance neither if it is a plain talk or a presentation with media.
if it is the first. forgive me but the topic/build up you've choosen is kind of dull in my eyes, really no offense just thinking as an auditor.
you have to a) spice it up b) wrap history etc. up to make it really short and c) where are the mediaplayers, i was so overwhelmed when my wii actually gained the ability to play movies, mp3s from usb/sd, search youtube and play it, stream media from a shared network folder to the wii, play dvds (ok not aplicable for the newer ones).

    +
when you are going on the presentation stuff
I would include some movie to make it intereseting, the numerous projects going on with the wiimote would be a good addition to some video oe live presentation of some wii homebrew (that google maps app for example or something similar, what is actually useful), i know that is maybe a little off topic then (as your title is software things) but I am sure you already saw something of that here. a lot of development arised from the actual wii periphery and the cool pointing tool it came with, that was something totally new, IR cam in a controller to track some IR LEDs, and the mote itself is cheap and has bluetooth which can be read out using a PC.
have a look here, i would clearly include something of that as most of the people don't know what can be done with that little piece of hardware and some coded software. and it is just so cool :-p
Johnny Lee: the IR white board, finger and headtracking

Wiimoteproject: there is a lot more, this is an example to use the mote to control sketchup3D, pretty cool

there is even more, like a virtual drum, played with mote+nunchuk, guitar, syntheziser etc etc

Ok. will leave you with that, I think you have enough to do with the preparation of the talk and analyzing the survey.
I just wanted to give you some thought/my opinion on it. just trash it if it doesn't fit in your work :-P

Good luck with it summersyn, hope you let us know how it turned out and what the feedback was, maybe you can put up your charts from the survey when you are done.
Cu you soon mate, keep up the good work.

edit: ahh a speech.. so something with a point of view etc. and you want to make the homebrewing point of view, suppressed by evil companies like ninentdo?

You might also want to take a look at freedom. It is a system menu replacement, but still under development. Don't install it if you don't have bootmii as boot2.

Edit: oh, and btw, I also pm'd you my answers to your survey.
Furthermore, there is a button under your post which should say 'blog this post'. It's on the left.

@vinatec All I am allowed to use is handheld visual aids and overhead projections, no powerpoint, video (unless i bring in a tv myself), ect. So yeah, the flavor will certainly be a hard part. And I will post the results of the survey on the day of my speech, which is when i will stop taking data. EDIT: Only the first 8 questions, 14 and 15, as they have the statistical data, plus I do not with to incriminate any piracy issues, as some deduction would be able to rationalize that if I do.

@bliepo I have no idea what I need to do to blog it. From left to right I have - Report, digg, del.icio.us, technorati, twitter, edit, reply, reply with quote, and multi quote, almost like any other post from someone else. I feel like I need to call tech support. I am not this dumb, i promise!

This is a practical joke, right? LOL there really isn't that button on my window. I see it in your thumbnail, but I don't have that option. Screw it, hopefully all this activity will get this noticed.

You may not have the blog option available, due to post count. We had to put a restriction on this due to spammers. You can request, to enable this feature for at least a single project or have someone senior in terms of posts do it for you. That is about the only option available to you at this point, I believe.
