BlackWii I have used seems rather sluggish anyone heard anything about slowness's

My brother recently got his mits on a brand new BlackWii, now I have been giving him some shit about it for the past 2 - 4 weeks that I could honestly say my wii responds faster.

He insists there is nothing wrong with it but to me the cursor seems very sluggish its precision vs reaction time is seriously wrong, As in I'm almost certian you would never be able to complete a fast paced First person shooter with it.

On the wii system menu it stands out the most by having a good 700ms ish deley in response time from when u actually wiggle the remote and it actually being at a position U waggle it at. Its not so noticable in games but deffiently can tell the responsiveness is not right on the wii menu.

I have used all of 4 Wii console's modded and not inc mine & every one the cursor has behaved almost exactly the same with some minor difference's in Sensativity settings.

To be fair I run my Wii at 480HD mode 60hz while my Brother owns a Plasma non HD and runs at the standard 50hz with AV cable.

At first I thought it was his sensativty I adjusted that it made little difference in fact at higher settings it made it almost unusable to flick the remote and land on something you want it to land on.

Then I thought It was the 50hz fresh rate and my eyes being used to the HD 60hz mode. I recently used a modded Black Wii on a old CRT at 50hz it did not suffer the same issue as my Brothers.

I also thought it was the non offical nintendo controle, I tested it with my own - same deal still slugish. He also wanted me to softmod is 4.2E system So I did so for him, It has made no effect on the cursor eaither.

I also re adjusted the sensor bar - On top of the TV and Below it, Moved closer to the TV and further away.

It's got me beat guys and I would just to like to know if there is any chance of a real problem or am I just seeing things.

Just for the Record His system was a virgin and almost 100% system memory when I first noticed the issue like 3 days after he got it. He refuses its anythings to worry about but as he is not the most sensativy person when it comes to noticing differences in responsiveness and refresh rates. I thought I would get some advice from your guys.

( The best discription I can give is to picture the first time you ever used a WII and how un accurate you were with the remote, its almost exactly like that everytime I go from My wii to His)

This is the first time I have heard of an issue like this. Do you have any idea what guide he followed when he softmoded it? Just as common practice why don't you post a syscheck found here. Open the syscheck.csv file created with WordPad NOT Notepad and pasted the results here.

Hey Krafter, Na man it was doing it PRE softmod, I soft modded it using shadows guide, softmodded or not had the issue.

In the same way I soft modded mine and you have seen my syscheck, Next time im there I will get a syscheck of it just to make sure its all ok. Yea Its the first Wii I ever used that I could actually Feel the difference in response times when waving the mote about. Its like its just not accurate like you cannot just flick it around and hope to speedly and accuractly land on a menu item u want like you would normally Do with any othe wii one your used to the console.

(Forgot to mention HIS Offical Black wii mote that came with his wii works perfect on my console no lag at all but the effects are still there when used on his Wii.)

hey, never heard of something like that too, but my idea:
is the wii set up in a metal rack or are there any unshielded cords (power, antenna or something), guess you already tried if sitting right next to the console makes a difference.
maybe you want to send it to nintendo and let them replace the bluetooth module/or the whole console.
just strange, any lag in response would freak me out

Regardless of the refresh rate of the tv some newer digital tv's actually have a delay built into them that you can do nothing about. If this is the case, even a 120hz digital lcd tv or a 600hz plasma would show some delay but it will show at a 120hz or 600hz rate as advertised. The easiest way to check to see if this is the case would be to plug a vcr into the tv with the a/v cables and have two y splitters for the audio (don't use the tv's audio out jacks). Plug one side off from the Y into the tv and the other into a receiver. Turn on both the tv and the receiver and if the audio sounds like it has a little echo or doesnt sound right then you know thats the problem and not the Wii.

Thats actually not a bad idea if only I knew how to remove the hacks plus I heard of cases were nintendo decided they would throw in a Free Softmod killer aka system update to boot before sending it back. Plus I know they run tests on it to find hacks so it must be a complete virgin before u send it away.

That and if you knew how stubborn my brother was it would be unlikely he would do any thing about it, More so seeing its his first Wii and he does not notice a THING WRONG with it, I think its coz hes a not gamer and he does not have the accute sense's us gamers develop from pro longed exposure to many types of Console and PC setups, you know that KEEN EYE for wierd shit that is not how it is ment to be, Like back when CRT monitors were the shizzle and if u ever saw somone running below 60hz your eyes would almost bleed as u literally saw refresh rate lines being drawn.

as far as the lag goes its really only seems to effect the cursor movements the rest of the conosole is the same usually speedy Wii, There is no effect to loading times or anything gay like that just really unresponsive motion controls.

Oh thats the other thing I forgot the Wii is actually connect to the dvd/vcr Combo AV input./ Tho I wonder if pluggin to the TV directly would effect It. Needless to say tho I have brought my OWN console down to my brothers house and tested My console on his TV in both the VCR combo and the AV Input on the TV a couple times before he even got is own Wii.

I also tried using my Component cable's and my Wii suffred No lag at all, That seems to rule out interference and what you mentioned above.

With that being said I'm not going to push him to do anything its only 16 and lets just say how did u act at that age as I can tell you he thinks he knows the world inside and out and that others peoples point of views mean nothing to him. He soon arks up when I mention about his Wii being laggy and insists Im an idiot and is just not using it correctly.

Thanks for the advice I Guess the console Bluetooth is just acting up I will advise my mother to Inquire about it with nintendo and she can decide what she wants to do with it, As for me Im 23 and no longer live at home so there is not much else I can do about it.

There is a guide for doing this (How to remove softmods and make your Wii a virgin)
    accomplished in 10 minutes.
as your mother or somone bought it with warranty on it and it was ~250$ (?) which is not cheap i would send that buggy thing in for repair or exchange.

but yes i know the problem when you try to explain something is not right here and the other one can't understand a word what you are talking about, everything is fine haha

cheers ! - yea I seen threads about it but never needed to do it. I prob wont worry about Mum thinks its not worth the hassel and my Bro thinks its 100% fine and u cant argue that at all lol.

His opinion is that he learnt how to counter the lag and that makes all ok, I think its total crap and would get it fixed asap.

    counter the lag LoL
not worth the hassel, i dont know its something you bought from a shop. once the warranty is gone, you won't be able to get something replaced for free.

so leave it like that.. maybe you want to play something pointing stuff/shooting game online against him and show him how bad the lag is, with a 50/0 score hehe

    ok then, good bye
