Wii freezes when I try to access SD card from menu

My Wii is softmodded on 4.1U and I've run out of space on the wii's memory. Whenever I try to access the sd card with either data management or the sd icon on the menu , my wii always gets locked up. I formatted the sd card but that didn't fix it. I couldn't find anything by searching and yes I can still access the sd card from the wad manager. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

what kind of card is it? How big?

It's a Kingston 2 gig formatted to FAT32, just as the guide instructed. A friend of mine modded his Wii and is using the same exact card, but he doesn't have this problem.

I never could get a kingston sd card to work properly in the wii.
Sent from my van, down by the river.
