    Question about Wii Remote Controller

My Wii came with the white remote and numchuk, and I wanted to get a second one, but the white remote has apparently been discontinued in the U.S. The stores only sell the black ones at a higher price. So I bought another white remote on e-bay. The ad said it was imported from Japan and is region free. The remote does work with my Wii (United States, version 4.2u), but I often have to press the Home button multiple times for that button to work. This doesn't happen on the remote that came with the Wii.

Has anybody purchased or used any Wii remotes intended for use in another country and experienced anything similar?

    Thanks.

I am not aware of the white Wiimote being discontinued in the U.S. In fact, Nyko makes a nice 3rd party one that you can pick up at any GameStop. My guess is that the one you purchased from eBay is used/problematic and was sold as-is.

Well as a new controller u should always sync the remote and the console. I don't know about 3rd party remotes or if that's what u have (most likely).

If the remote doesn't have a sync button try using the reset connection" under the remote settings when u press the "HOME" button. And try connecting from there. Again this process may vary if you are using a 3rd-party controller.

Actually, I found out that I was not pressing the button hard enough. The button is less sensitive than on the other remote, so everything seems to be dandy. Yeah, the original white one by Nintendo has been discontinued and replaced by a black one which comes with the "motion plus" feature. It is $49.99 -- a bit more expensive that what the white one sold for separately. At least the big retailers here are not carrying the white one anymore. I have alway been weary of buying third party products made to be compatible with something you have. I have found them to either not work or be complete rip-offs. I am not saying this about the one you suggested, and I am sure you are correct, but I would rather pay a bit more for the manufacturer's product for certain electronic devices.

N3M0-kuchiyose, the one I got from e-bay is an original mfg. by Nintendo. But thanks all for the recommendation. 10 bucks is pretty cheap compared to 30+ bucks which I paid.

Wow. Discontinuing the controller that matches the system? I mean I wanted a black Wii-mote to begin with but whoa... For verification I checked on Amazon for the white and sho 'nuff it says "yes" right next to "Discontinued by Manufacturer".

I myself have a black Nyko controller and it works pretty good. Now that I think about it if listened to the online reviews I would've never got it. Glad u got it sorted out.

I just picked up a white one at best buy last night. There was ONE left next to a huge row of black ones with motion plus. Im in Canada though so im not sure if they are discontinued here as well, or they just had one left.
    Damn I suck!!!!

True to a certain extent. But just as true, at times you can find superior products (I'll take my Nyko Perfect Shot pistol over the ungainly Nintendo official equivalent any day of the week).
