4.0E Hacks.ini on wiibrew has spelling error!

Hi,I recently helped a friend softmod his hardmodded wii which is on system menu 4.0E.
After installing priiloader a syntac error cant find hacks.ini on nand kept appearing. We tried all the usual remedies like making sure hacks.ini was on the root of the sd card, and that it wasn't named hacks.ini.ini.
but nothing seemed to work.So after an hour or so we decided to delete the hacks.ini from the sd card and go back to wiibrew and re-edit the hacks.ini.Once the hacks.ini was copied to notepad,we noticed that on line 9 where it says [block disc updates] block was spelled "blcok".So we corrected the spelling and saved the file then put it back on the root of the sd card. After launching priiloader in the normal way,
we went back to system menu hacks and hey presto, problem solved.
The reason i'm writing this is because i've noticed a couple of threads lately regarding the hacks.ini problem and was wondering if the moderators could make this thread a sticky or contact wiibrew and let them know about the spelling error so they can correct it. It would be very frustrating for a newbie or anyone who encountered this problem.

Is this a joke? The text has nothing to do with the patching, it's just a name. Your own incompetence caused priiloader to not work, not the irrelevant typo in the name of a patch.

Strong word's untzuntz! did you even read the whole thing! Or are you one of the many newbies who rush into thing's and dont bother to use the search facility let alone read.If you bothered to read the whole thing you would see that after correcting the spelling error the system menu hacks worked! Therefore that must of been the problem! Anyone with the intelligence of a knat would figure that out!And to suggest this is a joke is calling me a liar. What do you think I sit around all day and make this stuff up!I am offended by your post and would ask you in future to chose your words carefully if you intend to post in a thread I,or anyone else for that matter starts.
    Is this a joke? Please!

    Good spot there.

I also had error with the 4.0E code from wiibrew site, although it was an 'error more offsets than values....'

Untz c'mon, take some time and wind down or something. Your postings here have been written in an incredibly disrespectful and unnecessary manner. Bmario has a concern which is legitimately founded, and a good catch I might add. Again I think this goes back to that thread oddgriffin made some months ago about disrespect. There's no legitimate reason to attack another member here, period.

@bmario - I'm not sure I'm willing to say that the misspelling is the reason the hacks aren't loading. As a test I just changed the spelling on my hacks.ini and the hacks loaded up still with no problem. Now I know nothing about coding, especially the hex system, but I believe anything inside brackets [ ] is considered by Priiloader only for recognitional purposes. In other words it's just the title to the hack, though I could be wrong.

Even if I'm right about that though, it's a mis-spelling on the source page, it should be corrected, and you were right to bring it to people's attention. Thanks bmario.

Ithian is correct that the text within the brackets is for us humans to read the hack; the priiloader codes are not in that text area. Most likely, it was a coincidence that reloading the hacks.ini file after a correction fixed the problem. Nevertheless, our new member untzuntz should take some time in the Reading Room to re-review our rules and guidelines.
