Us hack pack 4.2 sys menu

I read the full hacking guide for 4.2 and wound up downloading the hack pack 4.2 sys menu. I guess I am a dummy. I have no idea how I got it and is it what I need to be able to start copying games to my hd. Is this package safe? do I just copy it to a sd card and put it in the Wii? Any responses are welcomed

Umm just follow the guide, it's safe provided you follow Messie's instructions to the letter. There are several packs in Messie's guide needed at different points in the process. All files are safe. Or follow Softmod for 4.2 by ShadowSonic2 also in Tutorials.

Thank you Tealc, I guess I am so far behind the times now that I have no idea what to do. Does anyone know anyone in north Alabama who knows how to update and allow games to be loaded to the hdd?

follow the guide. Its the only way you will learn anything.

Getting someone else to do it is fail, you wont be able to fix future problems if you have no idea what was done in the first place.

If you read the guide and STILL cant do it, then i suggest you sell your wii and go buy a gameboy.

Sorry I can't help you there. I remeber seeing you in the forums last night. I take it you found your firmware version if your following the 4.2 guide. Messies guide is very detailed and well structured, it might be a little overwhelming at first but its a good base to learn with. I read it over and over and researched for about a week before I felt I enough confidence to actually do it. I'm sure you'll be able to wrap your head around it and there is always somebody online who will be able to answer questions.

The fact is that a softmod is a high maintenance hack, where some adjustments and updates are required to keep it up to date and also to prevent future bricking. If you have no clue what was done at the start then it's going to be difficult in the future.

A modchip is a fit and forget method, which in some cases is better than softmod because essentially you are using Nintendo's own update method to keep your Wii up to date, rather than doing it manually.
