Help! black screen on Wii
Hi all,
Today my brother's Wii suddenly died off. It doesn't output sound and audio at all when we turned it on. It was playing fine yesterday night. I can see the unit still power up as normal, and it even takes in disk when we put it in, but we get no sound, no video, only black screen with some flickers. We tried with other AV cables but no luck either so it seems like it's not the AV cable.
Anyone knows what has happened to my brother's Wii please? Is there anyway to cure it?
Thanks I really want to save the Wii

Is your Wii modded? if so what is the Wii version (DMS/D2A/D2B, D2C, D2C2,D2E) and which mod chip?
Also if you search for "back screen", you will threads that discuss the issue. So you should read some of those to see if they have the solution you require.

Hi there,
Thanks for your reply. I have read through all those black screen problem before posting. My problem is different from theirs. All those black screen problem i found they either have sound or they can see menu only cannot play games. But i don't have audio and videa at all when i boot up the Wii, can't even see the menu, just totally black with flickers from boot.
My firmware is 3.2j if i am not wrong, modchip is Wiikey with latest update.
The shop quoted us half the price of a new Wii to bring it alive!! Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks.

That sounds like the wii mainboard needs rebuilding or repairing. Try to get the board repaired from a reputable technician in your area. I can get that bad boy working but I'm waaaaaaaaaay to far (Trinidad W.I) so just look for a nearby technician in your area, and see if they can repair it for you.

Yes it could be the video processor that gone bad. BUT he is getting intermittent signals so that can also prove that the video processor is working but something else that helps power on or stabilise the video processor gone bad, and the video processor is giving a kind of error code or trying to power on but but cannot power on properly. So as you can see, is all that we need to understand. Cause we need to go through a process to understand this kind of problem, and try to at least repair it or just replace it. If you understand what I mean.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies. I have tried everything but it doesn't seem to work. So I think I am going to pay for the shop to repair for me. It'll cost me half the price of the Wii but I think they'll give me one year warranty for that. No choice but that's my only way out now.
Thanks for all the suggestion

Hello Dark Mod,
I bought the Wii in sunday (oct 19). I tried it today and it's not reading the discs. Could you help me? Know someone who can fix it here in T&T?

Is it new or used? Is it modded and if so what chip? Are you sure you are putting them in the right way?
