I'm interested in Wii/Wii Fit Hardware Repair

I'm duffjr or duff. I know almost nothing about Wii repairs but have taken apart 25 or so of them for case changes. I'm looking for the best place to order replacement parts for Wiis, especially faceplates since those require little repair. I've searched for about an hour and only found a couple sites selling the crystal faceplates w/ the power/reset/sync/eject buttons. I'd prefer white faceplates in the $10 range. $15 is a little much if I'm ordering 10 each month or 20 at a time.

I can talk about all the issues I've had testing over 500 Wiis if needed. I just received 20 Wii Fit Balance Boards that have the "Please step off me and press A" error often caused by the rechargeable battery packs. I'm wondering if there's a hardware solution or recalibration solution for that. I also have about 8 Balance Boards in which one foot sensor is defective. I figured I could use a board with the "Please step off me and press A" error if I knew which part to replace. Maybe it's only a solder of loose power wires in the defective feet. I've never soldered anything before, but I do own 20 Radio Shack soldering guns. Do I have to buy solder first? I plan to work on red ringed 360s in the future but have had little luck with Wii repairs in the past due to my lack of technical knowledge.

I have seen more software issues/menu freezes now than I did in the past and the Preloader system menu restore helped me on one, but I have another one with 4.0u that refuses to update with no knowledge of pre-installed recovery tools like BootMii or Preloader. The New Wii Fit Plus disc supposedly updates the firmware on the recovery screen, but the screen only goes black, so I plan to buy New Super Mario Bros. if I find another Wii with a similar issue next week.

Any help, guides, or stores would be greatly appreciated. I bought a $20 online Wii guide that was more of a general knowledge guide of common Wii functions and problems than specific solutions to many issues. Please let me know who you or if you accept donations because I often see multiple issues selling 100 Wiis per month(20% are usually broken) so one fix would save me hundreds of dollars.

Thanks for the soldering guide. i met a guy today who explained how to solder, but the video and guide were 10x as helpful. I need to buy some heat shrink tubing and solder at OSH tomorrow. When I open up those Wii Fit pedals, I hope I don't find any broken chips as opposed to loose wires.

Does anyone have a reputable source for Wii parts like screws, drives($40-$50 range), front/face plates in white(buttons not important, LED wires not important but preferred), and the GameCube port covers(not that important but nice to have if the price is low enough). I'm sure this has been mentioned here, but I'll have to search through hundreds of topics to find site links.

Flea bay is an option and you can find reputable sellers there. I'm sure there are others, but this comes readily to mind (where I sourced my non D3-2 drive for $45).

I'm not gonna pay you a salary, but I will probably send you $20 for each of these: teaching me how to use my Fequang(sp?) multimeter to test for dead fuses, resistors, and capacitors. I would also need a source for replacements for those, so I'd pay another $20.

Testing for a busted motor on a Wii drive and replacing it. The motors are sold separately for about $10, but the drives are around $40, so I would like to replace them if possible.

Figuring out a repair for the "Please step off me and press A" error. I have about 12 Wii Fit boards with that error right now. I will send you $50 if I can fix at least 2 with that error that doesn't cost me more than that in parts.

When one of the four sensors in the balance board is dead, I'd like to know how to fix that. That seems like a simple repair if the fuse needs to be replaced or a broken wire needs to be soldered. I'll send $30 if I can fix at least two out of the 10 I have with that.

I have two that don't power on, but I figure it's the same issue.

I checked eBay for the drives. There seems to be a seller with a good deal on drivers finally. Another guy also has screws, but I have to buy the whole package for $5 for just the front faceplate screws. Thanks.

Not to be rude, but I repair consoles and computers for a living and am a qualified engineer.
How do you expect to be able to repair consoles and you dont even know how to use a multimeter to check a relay or even a fuse. Y
You should consider a basic electrical course to start with, otherwise you will probably cause more problems than you solve.
